As of 2023, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) led global green bond issuance among major banks, with a total exceeding 31 billion U.S. dollars. This impressive figure comprised nine overseas and five domestic green bonds. Crédit Agricole secured the second position, issuing green bonds valued at nearly 10 billion U.S. dollars. Bank of China claimed the third spot with 15 outstanding green bonds, amounting to just over seven billion U.S. dollars.
