In 2021, bank deposits in Kenya amounted to approximately five trillion Kenyan shillings (KSh), around 35.6 billion U.S. dollars. According to the report, growth was supported by mobilization of deposits through agency banking and mobile phone platforms. For instance, in 2010, the country registered a total amount of deposits worth some 1.2 trillion KSh (roughly 8.5 billion U.S. dollars).
