Share of people emigrating from Ghana 2010-2019, by gender
In 2019, while the share of Ghanaian male emigrants reached 54 percent of the total emigrants from Ghana, that of females stood at 46 percent. That year, approximately 970.63 thousand people emigrated from Ghana. Moreover, over the period studied, males represented the largest share of the emigrant population from the country. In a survey conducted in 2010, more than 250 thousand people were reported to have moved to destinations outside of the territory six months prior to the survey, out of which 64 percent was male and 36 percent was female.
