COVID-19 impact on labor participation rate in India 2020-2022
The labor participation rate was most impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown in India dropping to around 35 percent in April 2020, as many lost their employment in that time. However, the participation rate appeared to gradually stabilize at roughly 40 percent by April 2022. Moreover, the labor participation rate dipped slightly between April and June 2021 much like the previous year, due to yet another lockdown being implemented in anticipation of the second wave of the pandemic.
