However, after peaking at 10 percent in October that year, it started to decrease, falling to 1.4 percent by August 2024. Next to effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 led to increasing prices, especially spurring insecurity around the world's energy supply.
