Number of companies in France 2021, by size
This statistic shows the breakdown of the number of companies by company size in France in 2021. Thus, out of a total of more than four million French companies, about 156,700 were small and medium-sized enterprises.
Note: Since 2008, another terminology has been used to describe these VSEs: the micro-enterprise . However, this economic concept differs from the tax regime of micro-enterprise. In other words, a small business is a micro-enterprise, but does not necessarily fall within the scope of micro-entrepreneur status (formerly called auto-entrepreneur).
