FORGOTTEN AUSTRALIANS – OUR HISTORY – banner

Over half a million Australian children experienced institutional care in the 20th century.

To acknowledge and remember the experiences of these children, the Australian Government funded the National Museum of Australia and the National Library of Australia to document their history.


Apology

At 11am on Monday 16 November, then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to the Forgotten Australians.
