[edit]From Proto-Tocharian *kuk(ä)le (whence also Tocharian A kukäl), from Proto-Indo-European kʷékʷlos, a form of *kʷel- (“to turn”) (compare klutk- (“to turn”)). Cognate with English wheel, Ancient Greek κύκλος (kúklos), Lithuanian kaklas (“neck”), etc.
