Some baklava for you!

[edit]
Good job on the Siberian sinkholes article. Welcome aboard. {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 08:43, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --Marvel Hero (talk) 09:37, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really better to redirect every redlink in astronomy articles to the article it's on?

[edit]

That makes it look like the article already exists and is misleading and if anyone clicks the link they'll just end up at the very list they were looking at again. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 15:42, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: uploading pictures

[edit]

Are you talking about uploading pictures that you yourself took? If so, the situation will be simple: go to Special:Upload, pick the file you want to upload from your hard drive, specify the file name you want it to have here (filenames have to be unique, so if the page warns you that the name's already taken, please pick a different name), add a description, and upload it. For the description, copy the following:

{{Information
|description =
|date =
|source =
|author =
|permission =
}}

After each equals sign, you need to provide information:

  • Description = just explain what's in the picture
  • Date = what day did you take the picture?
  • Source = you took the picture, so write Own work by uploader
  • Author = you took the picture, so write Marvel Hero
  • Permission = the permissions template

Wikipedia policy requires that all images be available for anyone to use, for any purpose, with essentially no restrictions other than requiring people to attribute you as the author and requiring them to release modifications under the same license. The latter bit can cause problems, so the best choices are either just to require attribution or to require nothing at all, i.e. you release the image into the public domain. If you want to require attribution, write {{cc-by-4.0}} into the permission line; if you don't want to require anything at all, write {{PD-self}} there.

Final note If you're trying to upload something created by someone else, the situation can be a lot trickier; please don't upload someone else's work until you've read more. I can help you understand how to handle other people's works. Nyttend (talk) 07:22, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
