Occidental Petroleum

Hi Gr1st-- I noticed that you've listed yourself as a part of WikiProject Companies, and as the creator of the JKX Oil & Gas article. I'm currently looking for feedback on draft revisions to some sections of another similar company, Occidental Petroleum. The article talk page isn't very high-traffic, so I've run into trouble getting feedback from other editors. If you're interested in helping out, you can find my draft at User:CBuiltother/Occidental Petroleum Controversy, and feel free to leave any comments on the talk page. Thanks! --CBuiltother (talk) 17:58, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gr1st, you have cancelled my change about the name. After the grammatical agreement beween portuguese speaking countries the name must be written like "Autoestradas". Can we change it again to the correct writing? If Brisa hasent changed it on their own website, thats because they are not aware of the new grammatical agreement. --Cruks (talk) 20:33, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

We should change it when the actual registered company name changes to "Autoestradas", which it has not yet. Some agreement between Portuguese speaking countries does not bind Wikipedia to do anything. Regards, Gr1st (talk) 20:57, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Excuse me, who ist Wikipedia? Of course it binds Wikipedia also for the correct spelling. Look at this Reforms of Portuguese orthography. Regards--Cruks (talk) 12:13, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Nonsense - Wikipedia is not obliged to to anything as a result of that. What we are discussing ("Brisa - Auto-estradas de Portugal") is a proper name, so there is no "correct spelling". The company can call itself whatever it likes. It can "mis-spell" every word in its name if it wants to. We will revise the article when the official name of the company changes. Gr1st (talk) 17:40, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
No, we will not wait. We do it how it is correct spelling in the Portuguese language. EoD.-Cruks (talk) 08:35, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Once again - this is a proper name. Proper names are not ever subject to "correct" spelling conventions in any language precisely because they are proper names! I'm not going to revert you again - I'm not prepared to waste my time and energy debating a relatively minor point with who has decided that their opinion on how this article should be presented is gospel and that it will be implemented come hell or high water. Gr1st (talk) 13:14, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
You are not right, once again. It is not. rpt not a proper name, its an additional explanation to the proper name Brisa, nothing more and nothing less. The company is called Brisa. And not Brisa - Auto-estradas or Autoestradas de Portugal.--Cruks (talk) 13:26, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Wrong. The official full registered name of the company is Brisa - Auto-estradas de Portugal, S.A. It is completely, totally and utterly incorrect to state that "Auto-estradas de Portugal" is "an additional explanation". It is part of the legal name of the company. And the Portuguese Securities Market Commission - rather the authority - agrees: see here. Gr1st (talk) 13:36, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Here you go, I changed it to Brisa - Auto Estradas de Portugal with an undoubtful reference. Portuguese sometimes don't know how to write down their own language. I have notified this many many times.--Cruks (talk) 15:23, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Urban dictionary reference for Scania AB

You have twice deleted my Urban Dictionary reference for Scania AB. I have several issues with this:

1. You wrote "please actually take the time to read Wikipedia's policy on verifiability" This comment comes across as patronising and rude. You should have made a more constructive comment, especially as I had gone to some trouble to make the edit. 2. I have read the verifiability policy and is is unclear about use of sites like Urban Dictionary. 3. I have gone further and read the archives of discussions about whether Urban Dictionary is a valid source. The fact that there has been much debate about this indicates that the veriability policy is indeed unclear. Bear in mind that I had to do a lot of digging before I found this. 4. The nature of slang expressions is that they are often undocumented. In my opinion, Urban Dictionary is the most reliable source of such expressions. However, I understand and respsct that the consensus in Wikipedia is against me on this.

Wikipedia is dependent upon its editors (like me) giving up their time to contriute. Negative responses will make people not want to contribute. Please consider this when deleting other people's contributions in future. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.205.122.152 (talk) 10:00, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

The article Dunedin Income Growth Investment Trust has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability as stated in WP:NOTE requires multiple independent sources. In this case these don't seem to exist. Further listed status doesn't give automatic notability see WP:LISTED.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mrmatiko (talk) 15:03, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Deleting content Océ company wikipedia

Dear Gr1st, I saw that you edited content on the company wikipedia from Océ N.V. and I appreciate your efforts to keep the information in the Wikipedia Encyclopédie objective and neutral. Nevertheless, I was suprised when I saw you deleted a complete paragraph (green milestones). The goal of this paragraph was to give the reader some insides in the green initiatives from Océ. Canon and HP for instance, have similar paragraphs (resp. environmental activities and corporate social responsiblity) on their wikipedia sites. The addition of this paragraph to the Océ wikipedia site was a first step of a project to update and extend the information on the Océ wikipedia. The goal of this project is to give the the readers objective and neutral information about Océ. But now, before adding new information on the Océ wikipedia, I would like to receive some more detailed feedback from you, concerning your decision for deletion. I can use your feedback then in future publications on Wikipedia. Best regards, Josien Falkenberg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josienfalkenberg (talkcontribs) 08:07, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

My principal objection is that you work for the company in a public relations context, therefore you have a clear and unambiguous conflict of interest. Adding "green milestones", some hardly noteworthy, with only "official" Océ references to support, lead me to only one conclusion: you were using Wikipedia to portray your employer in a flattering light. Nothing could be further from the spirit of Wikipedia.
I would strongly advise against you embarking on a "project to update and extend the information on the Océ wikipedia". Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia. It is not a place for companies to advertise, to build a presentation about themselves, to engage with the public, to push a "brand message". Companies should not consider it part of their marketing strategy or labour under the impression that they are entitled to an "officially sanctioned" article. Gr1st (talk) 20:44, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Dear Gr1st, thank you for your feedback. There seems to be a misunderstanding: I am not working for Océ in a PR context. My role is to provide factual information about the company. I don't want to use wikipedia to advertise products or put my employer in a flattering light and wikipedia is not part of our marketing strategy. Our aim is solely to fill in gaps about the company's history. But thanks again for your feedback, I will keep it in mind with further publications. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josienfalkenberg (talkcontribs) 07:18, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Please don't try to take me for a fool. You are a "Corporate Communication Officer" at Océ. I know exactly what such a position entails. You should not be editing Wikipedia on behalf of your company. Gr1st (talk) 14:15, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
