Proposed deletion of Damien Dark

[edit]

The article Damien Dark has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No need for disambiguation — Neither of the articles listed have any relation to "Damien Dark" (even the sections); also, neither of the articles/sections include any alternative titles related to "Damien Dark".

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Skyllfully (talk | contribs) 03:51, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why would you propose this for deletion when all you needed to do was revert it to my redirect that I originally put up... it was another person who attempted to turn it to a disambiguation not me.--Dr who1975 (talk) 05:12, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. That was years ago. I no longer care enough about wikipedia to be disruptive anymore.... so yes... I've already stopped. I've also received many warnings about this sort of editing already so I don't understand the purpose of this message about something I did before I received such warnings. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Coverdellstatue.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 09:10, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on David Webb (jeweler), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. No need to a hatnote on Sam Phillips (musician)

[edit]

Sam Phillips (musician) does not need a hatnote so readers can find Sam Phillips. MOS:HATNOTE is your guide.

Readers may have arrived at the article containing the hatnote because:
  • They were redirected.
  • They may be seeking an article that uses a more specific, disambiguated title.
  • They may be seeking an article with a similar name to, or that otherwise might be confused with, the article with the hatnote.

There are no redirects to the musician article from an article about the 50s producer. They more specific article would appear before this one in a search so I cannot see why they would want to one more specific than that one. They may have similar names, but there are also actors, a model and other articles and so a disambiguation page is needed, not the possible primary subject. None of the arguments you have left in edit summaries seems coherent so, please follow WP:BRD and explain why the hatnote is needed on the article's talk page rather than carrying out this protracted edit war. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:28, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When you search "Sam Philips"... a list comes up.... both of the Sam Philips work in the music industry so when you see the second choice is Sam Philips (musician)... you're liable to skip the first one and jump immediately to the second one... so it is possible to accidently pull up the wrong Sam Phillips. A lot of amateurs use wikipedia and they are not familiar with the ins and outs of how disambiguations work. We want to make this an easy to use resource for all people. Please consider my words. --Dr who1975 (talk) 18:01, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they both come up in a search but why would any reader skip the first one? You're not willing to discuss at the article so I have taken it to a larger group. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:29, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because both the first and second Sam Philips are essentially musicians so you may just go straight to the one marked musician. Wikipedia should be easy to use even for people who aren't as familiar with how it works. To be honest the disambiguation of "musician" is still too ambiguous.
