Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Alpha Crucis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Americanism. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello Cuddlyopedia. You claimed that according to http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~emamajek/WGSN/WGSN_bulletin1.pdf for Xi Andromedae resp. HR 390 the name Adhil was now officially approved. However, HR 390 and Adhil are not mentioned in the bulletin at all. Please find another source or remove your claim. Thank you, --Gereon K. (talk) 12:11, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IAU catalog

[edit]

The URL you're using for the IAU catalog for star names (http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~emamajek/WGSN/IAU-CSN.txt) is problematic. That's a file in the personal directory of the current chair of the IAU Star Names committee - the tilde is an immediate red flag saying private copy. Certainly when the committee chair changes, that file will no longer be available at that location, and the form of the URL will attract attention suggesting it isn't WP:RS. I suspect a better URL to use would be the parent page (https://www.iau.org/science/scientific_bodies/working_groups/280/) even if it means an additional click by users to get the actual data. That URL is less certain to change, and doesn't look like a file stashed in some student's directory. Regards, Tarl N. (discuss) 13:20, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

8 Draconis

[edit]

Just a suggestion, but you could probably create this article directly rather than through the draft process. Draft articles may take weeks or months to get approved (or rejected). This is an uncontroversial article about a star that is already in lists of probably-notable objects. I would move it myself, but I'm not formally part of the AfC team so it would be slightly unconventional. Articles created directly will still be reviewed, but this will almost certainly take place within 24 hours for any astronomical subject. If you aren't confident creating an entire visible article from scratch, you can always work in your sandbox. Just try to avoid putting the article into real categories: put a colon before the word category. You should really do this in drafts also to avoid weird stuff cluttering up the category lists. Look at that! You're in already :) Lithopsian (talk) 21:43, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:20, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
