Great Minds Think Alike

You beat me to tagging the Hyrule Scrolls page for speedy deletion - I think you were seconds ahead of me there. *LOL* You are working hard this evening, I've seen some new pages you've posted yourself. Cheers to you for that and happy patrolling. =) CycloneGU (talk) 04:59, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Supposed 'vandalism'

The reason why I deleted MY OWN article (List of Cities by Urban Density) was not due to vandalism, but because the data I entered was completely inaccurate and unreliable, being copied and pasted from various Wikipedia articles. In return, I have created an external link to a much more detailed and reliable website on the Urban Density page. Would you please reverse the decision or at the very least allow me to delete my own article?Holy triple m (talk) 10:05, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

"Unconstructive" edit on Alan Colmes

The portion of the page on Alan Colmes referring to his appearance on The Colbert Report was incomplete, as while it went into great detail (written in a quite serious tone) for how most of his episode went, it did not provide the conclusion, without which some readers may have been led to believe that his participation on that show and the terms of his "severance" were a serious matter. Of course, that section has since been entirely removed from the article anyway. 67.164.72.148 (talk) 07:29, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Hi, thanks for following up, I note that the section has been moved or removed from the page anyway so it is somewhat of a moot point at this stage. Camw (talk) 11:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

User blocking per warning

Regarding your warning on User_talk:80.193.72.133 this user made several more vandalizing edits, the most recent at [1] after your warning. I'm not sure how one goes about blocking, but is obviously a very problem user. Could you follow up on this? thanks. JohnCub (talk) 11:09, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Er, I'm not quite sure why you believe my edit was unconstructive. I'm quite familiar with the way it's served in both Shanghai and Chongqing, having been to both, and I changed China to Mainland China because well, HK is part of China from all political viewpoints for one. 18.138.1.34 (talk) 07:17, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Sulphate

Dear Camw, I do not intend to be considered a vandal when making changes to such pages. In fact, it is by definition my very intention to see these changes reverted; however, it is in such reversion that awareness is raised regarding US flippancy towards correct English spellings. I disagree with the diction on pages such as Potassium SulPHate, since the correct English spelling is arrogantly stated. It is the US version which ought not to form the title, but be presented in the article as an alternative. I look forward to your message reply to my IP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by User:84.13.188.90 (talkcontribs) 23:03, 8 February 2009

Deleting an edit without proper explanation (now resolved)

Hi Camw, On 13 February 2009 you deleted an addition I made, without what I consider to be a proper explanation. Your objection (which you wrote on my Talk page) was that my addition was not constructive - but you gave no reasons why you thought so. You suggested I write an edit summary explaining why it was constructive, but my edit summary was: "Major fires: Kinglake complex: linking to archives weather maps and animated radar images which show the wind patterns and indicate the movement of the fires". That seems like a pretty good justification for the constructive nature of what I wrote, considering that the weather conditions played such a crucial role in the fires which killed several hundred people.

I find it annoying having my work deleted by someone I don't know, without so much as an email first, on the grounds that it was either unconstructive or that I didn't explain why it was unconstructive, while at the same time you failed to explain why my addition was unconstructive or why my edit summary was inadequate.

If you have any such objections in the future to what I write, perhaps you could email me at rw@firstpr.com.au or mention it on the article's Talk page rather than simply deleting it. Robin Whittle (talk) 03:23, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I included the info about Cantalejo officiating further in the tournament to show/imply FIFA's approval of his performance in Round of 16 game, which I mentioned in the Discussion. But as long as the Socceroo partisans desist their activities, it's not essential for the article. For what it's worth, after watching replays I agreed with the expulsion of Materazzi. [[Category:W-League (Australia)]]

Spirit Airlines

I thought Wikipedia was a service to provide facts about a person, place or thing however, I see that only flattering, fictional portrayls of such seem to make the cut. I beleive the piece of imformation written below is something that the public/consumer has the right to know?? Don't you?

Before reading the below text please keep in mind that the airline at this time was actively being investigated for an alleged rape on one of their female flight attendants as well as an assult on another by two of thier own pilots. It simply makes the following ad campaigns that are clearly writting in the POOREST of TASTE even more disgusting and gives the public even more reason to boycott this sexist, raunchy, low-class airline. That not only has an outwardly crude view of women and sex but also has yet to this day displayed any sense of legal obligation to protect and defend their employess from other employees. Rather they keep building thier imagine based on pictures of naked women, women's undergarments and any play on words that implies a cheap flight as well as some perverse sexual inuendo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.90.36.47 (talk) 17:02, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Football soccer

No, association football is not an acceptable compromise. It was attempted a few years ago, but was not agreed on. For the time being it has been agreed on, so do not revert until, it has been changed. For the record, I do not want it it be called football (soccer), but I had to accept it. Australian rules football and rugby league are referenced as football far more than soccer is, but are not allowed to hold the "football" term to themselves, so i don't believe soccer should be the sole holders of the title either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.0.121 (talk) 02:09, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

That is why rugby league and Australian Football articles must have the specific football they are playing. You will not find any of them that start with the sentence (Players name) is a football player. It was decided to avoid confusion, as if you called a player an Australian football player, they could think you were referring to an Australian rules football player. Which is also why Australian rules football can not even Australian football. I lost my rights to what I could or couldn't call articles "football". I debated, but the other desicion won. I have accepted it and I can no longer call articles just "soccer"or Ausralian rules or rugby league articles "football". It was actually the soccer fans who stopped people from this. Once the soccer league decided to refer to it as football, soccer fans went around changing those articles to "AFL" or "Rugby". This is why a compromise was reached. I accepted it, so I don't see why you can't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.0.121 (talk) 03:22, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

You compromise of association football was not accepted when it was suggested a few years ago. It was debated and agreed on, but you are more than welcome to try and open the debate again, but just because it is opened, does not mean you can now revert the edits. I am telling you it was OVERWHELMINGLY voted that it would be football (socecr). Even a lot of soccer fans voted on it. I'm telling you, it most likely will be voted the same as it was before. I mean how long are you going to keep trying to open a discussion about it? Every year? Every 2 months? No matter how many times it gets voted against, are you going to keep on trying to change it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.0.121 (talk) 03:30, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Replied on your page, but a note here that Consensus is not a vote and I've started a discussion on it now, don't worry about the future. Camw (talk) 03:46, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

For the last time, I told you I did not decide on the term football (soccer). It was the agreed term. It seems that calling it football on its own seems to be a POV viewpoint. You can start all the discussions you like. But I think you will have to learn to compromise, like I did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.0.121 (talk) 03:52, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Excuse me? The other person who's on your side does all the editing despite the fact that it was already agreed on and you say nothing. I simply REVERT them and you attempt to threaten me? Well you might be in for quite a surprise when other people come in to dicuss this

That's ok, I've made a similar complaint about you and dudwhatever and portillo.60.224.0.121 (talk) 05:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Thats fine, as long as they hear both sides, you can complain as much as you like —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.0.121 (talk) 05:52, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Also if you look at the history, it was one person (portillo) who had reverted the majority of the article back to football on its own and you will see there were mass reverting going on long before I began. He/she had done a long rampage of editing the articles. And if you see where he/she discuss' it, the only comment is basically "it's football end of story" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.0.121 (talk) 06:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
