Thanks for protecting my user page. Regards, --Asterion 18:17, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

I have reverted the revert you made without explanation. Please explain why my edit was not valid. It corrected duplicate words (the the), fixed a character name (Erick->Eric), adds major cast member (Rigg), corrected several to mutiple (there were at least a few dozen, which is much more than several), and removed 'himself' (unnecessary intensification). I also changed the bold formatting to wiki standard. 58.162.234.194 11:59, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Why did you revert semi-protection on American Civil War?

[edit]

Any casual glance at the ACW history will show numerous incidents each day--over 23 in last 56 hours including 3 since you unprotected just a few hours ago. Semi-protection allows almost everyone but the anonymous troublemakers to work the page. A frequently vandalized page like ACW should probably get permanent semi-protection. What good is protection if it's given no time to work? BusterD 17:34, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. The page IS on my watchlist, of course, which is why I notice that the page is vandalized by IPs over ten times a day on a regular basis. When I go to the extraordinary trouble to ask an admin for help, I wish other admins would follow the policy themselves and allow the semi-protection to serve as a temporary buffer. In this case, 100% of the vandalism in the period I've described is the result of IPs, whereas only about 90% of the IP contributions seemed intended to vandalize. You may personally disapprove of page protection, but if a fellow admin has granted a request for semi-protection (for what the operator described as "heavy vandalism"), it seems a bit presumptuous of you to nitpick whether 3 incidents in 3 hours is excessive (BTW, another incident has occured which we've been chatting). I believe I made my case on the request page, a responsible party agreed and acted, and you negated the effectiveness of that action because of what you've admitted is your POV. Please respect that others don't agree with you 100% even if they do respect your authority and dedication. BusterD 18:25, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Again, thanks for your kind attention. I'm still pretty new around here, and do not see the firehose the way an admin might. I feel that pages which are magnets for IP vandalism should have some shelter and some negative incentive against adding bathroom humor to an important and frequently viewed page. I hoped that semi-protection might allow us a day or two to make changes without constantly looking over shoulders. While I disagree with this specific action, I appreciate your assistance. Fair enough. I sometimes think blocking is more of an art than a science. The bv (not placed by me) was the second warning, but like you said maybe using a few more of the test series might have been better. Petros471 12:43, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

(Wikipedia:No climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman)

I have threatened to climb the Reichstag, dressed up as and did so, became bollocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy against climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman, and then had it become an official policy on Wikipedia (and to be an official decree by the Supreme Cabal Regime of the English Wikipedia (SCREW)). Is Absolutley fantasitic!. This is so great!

"In extreme cases editors may be tempted to climb the Reichstag building dressed as Spiderman in order to promote their cause. This is absolutely forbidden and can result in an indefinite block from editing Wikipedia."

[edit]

Hi there Lectonar. Probably in general it is fortunate that I have next to knowledge of sexual puns or jokes at all, so I saw nothing in the username other than the literal meaning. Unfortunately the "wikipedia is not censored" policy would lead me to think that I could not ban the guy simply for porn spamming, but if the name has an obscene meaning, I'm willing to indefblock. If I had my way I would go on a porn-deleting rampage, but seeing as that would not be seen as appropriate, I did not land a hard block for porn-spamming. Anyway, if it is obscene, confirm and I will reblock indef. Many regards, Blnguyen | rant-line 08:01, 4 July 2006 (UTC).

Alex condon

[edit]

There is a page on Wikipedia titled Alex condon suspecting a terrorist that should be reported to the FBI immediately by User:Juck89. Wikipedian27 00:23, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

article has been deleted in the meantime

I still please semi-protect only this User:Haham hanuka/Alex, I think he will be back. Thanks.--Haham hanuka 12:50, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Haham hanuka is a known Internet Troll in the Hebrew Wikipedia. He constantly distrupts the Hebrew Wikipedia, and now is using the English wikipedia to put a totally shamefull hate-text that was deleted from a user page of another user (this is what appear in User:Haham hanuka/Alex - pease ask anybody that knows Hebrew).
He is the one that should be blocked. 88.152.40.244 12:49, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

answered on appropriate talk-page

I've just asked a user you knows hebrew; my block stands, by the way, as even him being an alleged internet troll doesn't qualify you to make personal attacks (see here. Regards. Lectonar 13:00, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
I've moved the contunuation of the discussion to your talk page.
The blocking is irrelevant because:
  1. I changed IP (since people like Hanuka taught us all in the Hebrew wikipedia this technique)
  2. I am not going to continue, now that a sysop is involved.
Anyway, what I did was to delete this terrible degratory text, and I am sure that once you will see what was written in it you will do it yourself, and block the Troll. the above by user 88.152.40.244 circumventing block, but see following discussion
Thank you for your understanding; as you seem to know your way around wikipedia rather well, you should know that the content of userpages (a<ynd it's subpages) are pretty much up to the user..so we'll see what comes of it...and technically speaking you admitted evading the block, which would be a blockable offense in its own...but I'll hold you to your word. Lectonar

Lectonar, please don't feed the troll, there is no personal attack on this page. You can ask every Hebrew speaking user. --Haham hanuka 13:21, 12 July 2006 (UTC) answered on users talk-page

Lectonar - I suggest that you will ask Haham hanuka what is written in that page. Let him explain it (and I will look closely to see that he tells the truth and all the truth).

I am quite aware that content of a userpages is considered as an almost completely free, but up to the point that it is used to distribute hate-propaganda, which this page did. It was deleted immediately in the Hebrew wikipedia, without any dispute (there is only a dispute whether the user, who is not Hanuka should be blocked forever, or just for a very long time). Hanuka, who is for long expelled from the Hebrew Wikkipedia as a known troll, in order to stir a little and create havoc, copied it to his page here, thinking he could use the English Wikipedia to put disgusting text written in Hebrew in the English Wikipedia, without being noticed. But I am afraid that this was one mistake too much... 88.152.49.190 13:45, 12 July 2006 (UTC) answerd on users talk-page

In response to your query, the text does not appear to be a direct personal attack on any individual user, although I don't understand a good bit of the language. From the gist of it I believe at least parts of it are inappropriate for a WP user page, but I would hesitate to attempt a translation on the fly. May I suggest you consult with User:Avraham and User:TShilo12, both (I think) admins whose proficiency may be better than mine? Briangotts (Talk) (Contrib) 13:52, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I am following the developments, and I am afraid that he did not provide a full translation of the Hebrew text. For example, he ommited the citation from the bible that explicitly calls for the execution of homosexuals.

Since he is considered as a declered troll in the Hebrew Wikipedia, I strongly suggest that he will not be allowed to enter any Hebrew text into his user page, because he is using it in order to harm the Hebrew Wikipedia, while most of you can't notice it.

Thanks. 88.152.49.190 13:53, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

AIV (response)

[edit]

I do not see any real vandalism in the contributions of the 202....IP's you reported, only changes which could be made in good faith (see here). Have you tried talking to the user(s) who are making the changes?. Cheers. Lectonar 07:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

The various changes that the 202 IPs made were harmful to the Super Sentai articles, and probably could have been warned using the {{verror}} template series. The IPs changed the names of various official translations (changing "Robo" to "Robot", and altering the set up of the article itself), and they constantly repeated these edits, despite being warned as to what had they had done with {{test-n}} type templates by another editor. While good faith should have been assumed, they still repeated their actions despite being warned that they were doing unconstructive edits. Ryulong 07:28, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
The primary problem with this IP range is that they (probably not deliberately) insert false information into the articles by the method of replacing "Robo" with "Robot". These edits are the ones that are being reverted and listing as vandalism. In fact, an editor in the range that was blocked last night recently did such an edit to Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman, the diff of which can be seen here. It is these edits that are harmful, and repeated by the range. I have left a message on the first IP (the one that was blocked last night) explaining the "Robo" and not "Robot" dilemma, and I hope he will get the message. Ryulong 07:38, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello,

I'm writing you because you helped me in the past and you're a much more active wikipedian than me. I've created a template to be used in the portuguese municipalities Template:Infobox Municipality pt‎ and a lot of persons have collaborated in it since it's creation. In a way that we have arrived to a model that has been applied to all the portuguese municipalities pages (and there are a quite a few). Now this guy has arrived and he wishes to impose a completely new model, that implies doing many changes to all the municipalities pages. If you have administrator statute can you please do something to prevent it, if not can you please point me in the right way.
