The International Journal of Medical Students (IJMS) is a peer-reviewed diamond open access scientific journal covering research in Medical education, Medicine, Public health and Epidemiology. It was created to share the scientific production and experiences of Medical students and recently graduated physicians worldwide. The Journal's objective is to be the primary diffusion platform for Medical students, using standards that follow the process of scientific publication. It is published by University of Pittsburgh Library System, a member of the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association, and was established in 2013. The Journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and stands by the code of conduct for editors.[1]

The Journal receives contributions and unpublished manuscripts of Original Articles, Short Communications, Reviews, Case report, Interviews, Experiences, and Letters, which are reviewed by experts who have previously published similar research (peer review). This supports the quality and validity of the publications. The time between submission and final publication in most cases has been three to four months depending on the diligence of Peer-Reviewers and Authors.

The IJMS has been highlighted by the International Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Where to Submit Your Writing: Journals Publishing Student Work,[2] and the American Medical Association (AMA), Where to publish: Top journals for physicians in training, 2015.[3]

The Journal supports and follows the principles of: Healthcare Information For All (HIFA), Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research - EQUATOR Network, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME; Journal application submitted), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) code of conduct for editors.
