If this is about stations generally in Sheffield city, shouldn't this include tram stations\stops? Simply south 22:26, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This template is for train stations only, after discussions along with members of Sheffield Wikiproject we are unsure as to whether an article on each tramstop is necessary, which is unlikely as stops are non descript bus shelters along the three Supertram lines. You may start a template on Supertram stops if you wish but this template is for rail services. Captain scarlet 08:33, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chapeltown station

[edit]

Please stop adding Chapeltown station to the list of closed stations. Chapeltown station is open and has services running to and from Sheffield and Barnsley daily. The Wikipedia page for the station even says this much. Chapeltown does have a disused station - Chapeltown West, which is allegedly haunted - however there is no Wikipedia page for this station as yet. Captmonkey 16:21, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the changes, a second time, since the station at Chapeltown closed and reopened 200 yards south next to the viaduct. the old station of the same name can be seen at the North side of the Northbound platform. See old Chapeltown station. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 20:37, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This strikes me as fairly counter-intuitive. The template lists Chapeltown twice - once as an open station, and once as a closed station - however, both link to the same document - which is about the current, open, station - yet it features a photograph of the derelict station! Perhaps two seperate Wikipedia entries are needed - much like the ones for the disused Meadowhall station and Meadowhall Interchange? 83.245.29.77 22:06, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On the contrary, it is very intuitive as it states that the station is closed, yet open, just as it is. The original station is closed, but was roepened. Meadowhall is different as Meadowhall station was a mile north of the current interchange. Meadowhall and Wincobank though was on the precise site of the interchange. The reason I originally put Chapeltown twice was to clearly show the station in two states. The article though need editing to show this, at least the template which is included in the article does show this subtlety, one must be concise and precise. Discussion

However, tram stops are sometimes referred to as tram stations. Unsigned comment: 15:29, 27 December 2006 by Simply south

Tram stations, not stations. Bus stations, not stations. Taxi ranks, not stations. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 15:56, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
