Why and where does this article need additional citations for verification? What references does it need and how should they be added? Hyacinth (talk) 00:26, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Athough only a WP:SPS, editors may find the list at this website useful: [1]. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:05, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that link, but it is unfortunately now dead. Mentioning the song "Green Tambourine" totally pegged the sound in my mind in a way that a WAV file would not. I feel we should be careful, however, and seek to prevent the list of songs from becoming a Trivia List. The reason I migrated to this article was in fact, because I had heard the sound on Elton John's song "Captain Fantastic and the brown dirt cowboy" and had asked my husband, a percussionist, what the name of that instrument was. All he could do was attempt to give me a physical description. That didn't help since even though I am also a musician, I had never seen what I knew as "an artificial jawbone." Having 3 to 4 songs that feature the sound effect prominently and then listing them, allows the reader to run on over to whatever streaming site they use and hear it in use in a song. Alternative names

[edit]

Okay, to be honest, i have never in my life heard this instrument referred to as a 'vibraslap'. Instead, I normally hear 'donkey rattle'. I also did a little online research (read: Google search) and I found that there are actually several places where it is referred to as such. Aparently, it's because the original instruments were made using donkey teeth. Should we add that name as an alternative, at least so that if it's searched people end up here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.138.65.119 (talk) 17:30, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
