This is also advertising just as much as the stuff I added. All of it is factual content. What do you have against the well known publishing house, Augustus Publishing—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cyelambert (talkcontribs).

What is also advertising? And I don't have anything against it, it's just that it was effectively singled out by the statements you added. We don't need articles on every single publishing company on, say Book. Veinor (talk to me) 22:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What you've written about all the other street lit writers is just as much advertishing. What do you mean it was effectively signled out? It's just an excellent publishing house that has won awards for how many books they've sold. Why wouldn't you want to include him

I mean that there were three that didn't even get an entire sentence and one that has multiple paragraphs. That seems like 'singling out' to me. Veinor (talk to me) 22:49, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well it's not, if you're a better writer write it better. I believe it should be there. HOw do you want it written because I insist it be there.

I think that it should be written without advertising. And I didn't write any of that article. I just removed the section you added and a bit of small advertising for other publishers. Veinor (talk to me) 22:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems silly to write another entire article when there is already one written on the subject and I can just add to it. I thought that's what wikipedia is for. Cyelambert 23:09, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean 'it seems silly'? You already did write another entire article on Augustus Publishing: Augustus Publishing. Veinor (talk to me) 23:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, before I noticed this one. I'd rather eliminate the other page and put that little bit of writing here. I like this page! Cyelambert 23:15, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the other page is going to be eliminated in any case due to the fact that it reads like an advertisement. And if we just added things to articles that are related instead of starting new ones, we'd eventually have one gigantic ur-article. And {{helpme}} tags do not go on article talkpages; they go on your user talkpage. Veinor (talk to me) 23:16, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since you're so great make it better instead of eliminating a good source. It's not an advertisement anymore than what is already on that urban lit. page. Just because it says what he wrote, that biographical.

When did I say I was a good writer? And have you proved that he's notable? Veinor (talk to me) 23:25, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am worried that the comment about white power is totally unjustified. I just finished a research paper on Street Lit (also called Urban Lit/fiction) and I didn't see ANYTHING to suggest that. This sounds like an editorial comment on the part of the writer. esmith8 (talk to me) 22:02, 12 May 2009

WorldCat Genres

[edit]

Hello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of urban-fiction. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks. Maximilianklein (talk) 23:59, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I removed several authors that are not notable, and all belong to the same small publishing company. I will need to de research on some of the others before making additional changes.2601:E:8480:39B:58F9:87AC:3442:242E (talk) 05:00, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request for author audit

[edit]

I wonder whether someone in the know would be interested in auditing the author list in the article. The large majority of the listed authors are redlinks, and I wonder how many of them don't meet the notability guidelines for inclusion in a list like this one. I've also left a request at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Literature#Audit of author list at Urban fiction. —Largo Plazo (talk) 15:24, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Encyclopedia article or sales piece?

[edit]

This article reads more like a sales brochure than an encyclopedia article.

I don't recall another Wikipedia article with a convenient list of publishers/shopping places. Perhaps we should add the urls to these houses. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:3BCD:D200:CD44:16B:5D79:10BA (talk) 16:37, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, and the section has been tagged for over a year as lacking references to explain why any of the publishers listed is of note. WP:COATRACK applies, there's marketese in some of the publisher descriptions, and at least a couple seem to be very limited in their output, not companies of any note. Without prejudice against reconstruction of the section in a more solid manner, I've deleted it. —Largo Plazo (talk) 18:20, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
