The article I chose is Queen Rania of Jordan. I have chosen this article because it is of interest to me since the Queen of Jordan is an important figure recognized across the world. It is very important that she is well represented especially since the Arabic version of the article contains more detailed information. The lead includes a sentence about who Queen Rania is and describes what the topic is about. It almost covers all sections of the article, but it is very brief, consisting of a few lines only. The lead mentions that the Queen contributed to the health sector of Jordan but there is nothing regarding that in the article. The lead leans more towards being concise. The article is relevant to the topic and the last editing that was done to it was in 2018. There is some content that is included in the Arabic version of the article but not the English version. For example, there is no section that discusses how she improved the health sector in Jordan. The article does not deal with one of Wikipedia's equity gaps nor address historically underrepresented topics or populations. The article only discusses the Queen's accomplishments and work, but it does not discuss how a lot of Jordanians view her. This is an issue discussed in the talk page. But that is also because she is a queen and she should be portrayed in a positive light. There aren't any claims that appear heavily biased toward a particular position. Her early life seems to be underrepresented with some gaps in the information that make it unclear. There is also some underrepresentation in the part that talks about how she improved certain sectors in Jordan like education and youth, many details are missing and there is no reference to certain information like the children's museum she built. The article does not intentionally attempt to persuade the reader towards a certain viewpoint. But it does encourage them to view her in a positive light only. The article is backed up by many reliable sources. The sources also reflect the available literature on the topic and are current. The different sources are written by a spectrum of authors and they do not include historically marginalized individuals. Do they work? Most of the links to the sources work. There are a few, however, that do not work. The article is well written and straight to the point and I have not seen any grammatical or spelling errors. The article is broken down into sections that are well organized. The article only includes a few pictures of the Queen. However, there are no images that support her work e.g. the children's museum she built, and her publications. The images are well captioned. There are some copyright issues discussed in the talk page of the article. And the images have a fairly good layout. There are a lot of conversations happening on the talk page including adding and removing information to make the topic more representative of more than one point of view. The article has been rated as C-class, and it is part of seven WikiProjects. We have not talked about this topic in class. However, I think it is interesting how although Wikipedia aims to be as neutral as possible, it still tries to portray important figures in a positive manner only. The article was rated as C-Class and listed as level five vital article. The article is concise and provides a brief overview of the Queen’s accomplishments and contributions towards country. The article can be improved by adding more details to already written information, more information regarding her life during the past two years and by representing more than one point of view if possible. I believe the article is well developed but needs some fixing. possible articles that might help: https://www.hellomagazine.com/profiles/queen-rania-of-jordan/ https://www.queenrania.jo/en/rania https://www.biography.com/royalty/queen-rania Mayaa33 (talk) 20:44, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

After I edit this article, itis going to include new content and I will be editing some false information. Firstly, I will be adding a few sentences to her early life section to clarify some ambiguity which was mentioned in the talk page, about when and why she moved to Jordan. I will later be fixing false information about her and King Abdallah’s marriage date and I will be adding a sentence about their wedding ceremony. As for the Areas of Work section, I will add a sentence about the Queen being one of the most 100 influential women in the world because she focused on improving several areas locally and internationally like education, health and youth. Under the education section, I will add new information about Queen Rania Al Abdullah’s Center for Education and Information Technology and Queen Rania’s Teacher Academy which was established in 2009. There is also information about the Queen Rania Scholarship Program in higher education under the education section, but I will be adding more information about what fields these scholarships cover (for example: Design, Business, Psychology, Engineering and Law). Under youth, I will add information about one of her most famous achievements Edrak, an online portal that promotes knowledge in the Arab world. After the youth section, I will be adding a new section about the Queen’s contributions to the health sector in Jordan including Queen Rania’s Children’s Hospital and The Royal Society for Health Awareness. Last but not least, I am going to be adding another section that includes a list of the Queen’s Honorary certificates.

Hagiography

[edit]

The article reads like a hagiography. It is much less balanced than the article about her husband. The tag seems apt. Surtsicna (talk) 15:02, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Strong oppose per WP:NCROY, which all article titles for consorts should follow (even though they don't). estar8806 (talk) 22:37, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose We are using territorial designations for the husbands (Hussein of Jordan and Abdullah II of Jordan). Can't see why it shouldn't be used for their wives. Keivan.fTalk 07:27, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support The shorter the better. There have never been any other queens by those names. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 11:54, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
