A suggestion

[edit]

When I read this article, I asked myself "so where are Helsinki, Tallinn, and Riga?" I found my answer so fast: "Those aren't situated on the border; because the international borders of Finland, Estonia, and Latvia include maritime borders too which are in the sea."

But I have a suggestion now. What about creating the article "List of national capitals which are ports"? Aminabzz (talk) 16:49, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Montevideo and Buenos Aires

[edit]

Is there a good explanation for why Montevideo, Uruguay, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, are not listed here? The Montevideo article says: "Montevideo is situated on the north shore of the Río de la Plata, the arm of the Atlantic Ocean that separates the south coast of Uruguay from the north coast of Argentina; Buenos Aires lies 230 kilometers (140 mi) west on the Argentine side." If being situated on a river/estuary that forms the international border is not sufficient, several of the listed entries would not make the cut. In particular, the "border" between Tokyo and the United States is based on an oceanic EEZ boundary attributed to an outlying part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government region that is 1,000 km from the actual capital city, which I would argue should not be listed here anyway. --EightYearBreak (talk) 14:09, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

How about making an article named list of capital cities which are close to international borders but not situated on them? Aminabzz (talk) 13:09, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Andorra and Bratislava

[edit]

Andorra shouldn't be on the list. Because even its county isn't bordering Spain. Also, Bratislava shouldn't be on the list as a border of Hungary. Because it's not the city itself that borders Hungary. But the county. Aminabzz (talk) 20:04, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
