I'm worried that a lot of these Youtube video clips are actually copyrighted - perhaps it's best to remove that link? Mglovesfun 22:05, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, because the video is not posted on Wikipedia itself. Taeguk Warrior 03:44, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poor grammar

[edit]

This sentence is hilarious:

"So while Choi was in Korea, and won every Ssirum competition, since he could thow everyone around like picking up a baby, after he would win his match, he would dance because his hobbies are dancing and clubbing and then the techno music would play and he would dance to excite the crowd and enjoy his win because he likes to dance and the crowd likes to dance so they would dance together." --65.138.14.2 03:04, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That sentence isn’t hilarious, it is traditional Konglish and I find it quite beautiful. Konglish is an art form few outside of the mystic realm can truly comprehend. That sentence quite succinctly captures the very essence iof what the writer was attempting to get across and I nominate it for some kind of award… any award will do. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.79.62.16 (talk) 15:04, 15 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The largest professional Fighter

[edit]

He is not just one of the largest, he is the largest professional fighter on the planet. Guys like The Great Khali, The Big Show or Giant Silver are as big (Khali) and heavier (all 3 of them) as him, but Khali and Big Show are not professional fighters, they are professional wrestlers (entertainment fighters). Giant Silver had some fights in MMA, but he is not recognized as a real professional fighter because of his lowsy skills. He lost to a 70 kg (165 lb.) light japanese fighter and is more show than fighter. Finally it´s correct to call Choi "the largest professional fighter on the planet". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.58.229.113 (talk) 23:10, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no substantiation that his head and feet are the largest in the world. i suggest that statement be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.128.108.178 (talk) 18:27, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bob Sapp is heavier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.181.122.248 (talk) 04:19, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comeback to K-1 in late 2008

[edit]

I think this needs to be less exaggerated, it reeks of bias. The author is doing everything they can to make Choi sound greater than he was. The punches had no effect? He didn't want to be there after being hit and he threw in the towel claiming a rib injury, though appearing not to be in much discomfort. The 'knockdown' was more a slip and If the match was outside Korea I don't think there would have even been a count. With the judging, as I said, if it was outside of Korean influence Choi wouldn't have even come close to winning any round by any judge. I don't think he landed more than 5 punches all fight, it should have been scored atleast 10-8 to Badr Hari every round. The Muss (talk) 15:45, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1) The punches to the head (jaw, chin) had no effect, just the ones to the body (ribs).

2) It was no slip, even if Choi did throw less then 5 punches in all rounds, Hari run into his fist and was KD´ed. So, and this is an official K-1 rule, round 2 must be 10-8 for Choi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.58.221.26 (talk) 23:07, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3) Badr Hari is arguably the best fighter in K-1 at the moment, but he has a glass jaw (was knocked down by Leko, Karaev, Choi, Zimmerman, Bonjasky and almost Ostojic). So it´s no wonder even a clumsy guy like Choi was able to knock him down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.58.221.26 (talk) 23:10, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

4) Here you can read Hari´s actual opinion: He stated he was knocked down and Choi´s chin is very strong: http://k-1sport.de/en/show_article.php?id=143 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.59.16.20 (talk) 11:02, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maximum weight updated (Ssireum Championships 2004)

[edit]

I would have liked to post the Youtube Link which starts the clip on the right spot, but Wiki didnt allow me. So i had to post the Link when the tournament starts. The final match is Kim Young-hyun vs Choi Hong-man, and their tale of the tape is listed. Choi's maximum weight was listed in this article as 166.6 kg (367 lbs), but this was only his maxumum weight in K-1. As Ssireum Wrestler his weight was 175.5 kg (387 lbs). You can see it here:

Changing Kang Soo-hee to Kang Su-hee

[edit]

Kang Soo-hee is a 1996 born actress. The supermodel Choi was doing music in 2007 is spelled Kang Su-hee. That's why i changed it in the article. --Alleingänger (talk) 13:40, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Some major changes

[edit]

Comparing his article with others like Muhammad Ali, who also had a couple years inactivity during his career as combat sport athlete, i thought it's better to mention the inactivity and seperate the "two" careers in before and after the break. In Ali's article it's done the same way. I hope the changes are ok. If not, of course you can change it back. --Alleingänger (talk) 03:32, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
