Problematic IP edits

[edit]

An IP editor has repeatedly inserted a paragraph copied from Customs and etiquette in Chinese dining. The following problem list was placed on the editor's talk page:

  1. They lack a proper source. WP:RS
  2. Wikipedia is not a source for itself. WP:CIRCULAR
  3. Copy-pasting text between articles has specific requirements that were not followed WP:CWW
  4. You cannot shift responsibility for your edits to another editor as you did in the summary here.[1]
  5. If you are describing the information as strange, as you did, you shouldn't be adding it to an article.
  6. The text was clearly marked to show that it was problematic. It never should have been copied.
  7. The inappropriate paste followed "{{further|Customs and etiquette in Chinese dining}}", a link which will take users to that exact text. That defeats the purpose of linking. MOS:LINK.

I have started this thread so the editor can try to gain WP:CONCENSUS for changes. BiologicalMe (talk)

Debatable image description

[edit]

The description of the first image, which starts with "Various chopsticks, from top to bottom", appears to go through several meaningless edit conflicts. As we all know that melamine is a toxic substance, the idea of manufacturing chopsticks with it seems impractical.

When I check the history, I find that the image was uploaded in June 2007, with its description "Plastic chopsticks from Taiwan".I haven't examined the whole editing history (only back to year 2020), but as far as I could know, the unreasonable description just came from conflicts between editors from PRC and Taiwan. Someone changed "Taiwan" to "Chinese", then another changed "plastic" to "melamine"; all in all it appears hilarious but meaningless.

I think we could change it to the very first version, or "Taiwanese plastic chopsticks" for unified format. Thanks for reading. 2A0C:59C0:1:0:0:0:0:10AA (talk) 11:11, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

subjective, dubious

[edit]

delete the sentence: "Japan is the only place where they are decorated with natural lacquer, making them not just functional but highly attractive." why: 1. Japan is the only place... may or may not be the case

2. making them functional... entirely subjective

3. making them attractive... entirely subjective. sounds like a vendor's ad. 62.92.48.67 (talk) 06:47, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
