Nick Baxter (rugby union)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nick Baxter was a low league rugby player who, despite good efforts, fell at the last hurdle, ending his sporting career after finding himself repeatedly on the bench at Worcester Warriors. Despite scoring his 150th try for Pertemps Bees versus Doncaster in April 2006, his career didn’t recover as hoped. Nick has currently played for three different league sides; Worcester Warriors, Pertemps Bees and Stourbridge , although disappointingly didn’t make it to any well known semi-professional teams. Nick then turned his attention to business, of which there have been many over the years. The sportsman come entrepreneur remains a budding businessman and talented showman, with his recruitment business making steady steps toward hopeful success. Nick hopes to manage several successful businesses before his ever nearing retirement.

Club Rugby

[edit]

Baxter started playing football but wasn’t able to find much ball control. He tried rugby on a whim and with weight on his side, found a sport he was better at. His low level club rugby career started for Kings Norton before moving to the now bankrupt Worcester Warriors. He also did a lot of playing for the mighty University of Derby. He then signed for the lesser known Pertemps Bees before moving to National Division 2 side Stourbridge (small village near Birmingham) at the end of the 05/06 season. He then returned to Kings Norton on a casual basis while looking for employment.

International Rugby

[edit]

Baxter briefly played at Sevens level, competing in the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games however never made the mark for the National team.

The future

Nick has since retired.
