Enicognathus is a genus of South American parrots in the family Psittacidae.

Description

[edit]

The two species of long-billed parakeets are large, measuring 40 and 37 centimeters long. They have long, graduated tails and relatively long beaks, with the long-billed parakeet also sporting an elongated upper beak. Despite these differences, both species share almost identical plumage coloration and feathered waxy skin, leading to their initial classification in different genera.[2]
