Gran Hotel

El hotel de los secretos[1] is a Mexican telenovela produced by Roberto Gómez Fernández for Televisa. It is an adaptation of the Spanish series Gran Hotel created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira and Carlos Sedes.[2]

The series stars Irene Azuela, Erick Elías, Diana Bracho and Daniela Romo.[3][4][5]

Plot

[edit]

In 1908 Julio Olmedo (Erick Elías) and Isabel Alarcón (Irene Azuela) travel on the same train heading to the Gran Hotel, the Alarcón family business.

Julio travels to look for his twin sister, Cristina Olmedo (Ximena Herrera), who has stopped writing to him for a few months, while Isabel responds to a call from her mother, the matriarch Teresa de Alarcón (Diana Bracho), who has arranged her marriage to Diego Montejo (Jorge Poza), to whom she hands over the management of the Gran Hotel.

But in addition to Cristina's disappearance, a series of murders occur in the town where the hotel is located, so detective Ayala (Jesús Ochoa) arrives from the capital to clarify these events; however, during his stay the mysteries around the place increase and it is growingly difficult to decipher them.

Julio Olmedo enters as a waiter at the Gran Hotel where he meets Andrés Salinas (Carlos Rivera), the son of the hotel's housekeeper, Ángela (Daniela Romo). A great friendship is born between Julio and Andrés that over time turns into brotherhood. Therefore, Andrés helps Julio investigate what happened to his sister.

The Gran Hotel is where the best families of the time come to spend their days of rest and recreation, without knowing that love and death wander within, since mysteries accumulate day by day. At the same time, the love between Isabel and Julio grows more and more, with both being willing to face all the obstacles of the period, including society.[6]
