desculț
Romanian
editEtymology
editFrom a Vulgar Latin root *disculceus, itself either from a shortening of Late Latin disculceātus, disculciātus, or from *discalceus (from Latin dis- + calceus), and influenced by the -u- in disculciō; alternatively from a variant of Romanian descălța. Compare Aromanian discultsu, Friulian discolç, Venetan descolz, Sardinian iscultzu; compare also Spanish descalzo, Portuguese descalço, Catalan descalç, French déchaux, Italian scalzo, from related roots *discalceus or *excalceus.
