editThere used to be:
- Something or somebody that exists as an individual unit. Often used for organisations which have no physical form.
- Something having a real existence.
These two definitions seem to me better than the current extended definitions, entered by User:24.146.4.193 on 25 November 2007. But as I am unsure, I am leaving the definitions in the article intact. --Daniel Polansky 15:06, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
"Entity" in computing
editI would like to have exemple uses of the term in the field of computing, for I have practiced and studied this field for decades, literally, and never seen it used as part of the vocabulary, or coined with a defined sense, even less as a key-word in the field.
I was precisely checking the exact sense of this term to introduce it in personal projects in this field ;-).

- It is a very general term for anything at all that is of interest to an organization, and about which information can be stored in a database. SemperBlotto (talk) 10:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
