From Proto-Hellenic *lawerós, possibly related to ἀπολαύω (apolaúō, to enjoy).[1] Pokorny draws it from Proto-Indo-European *leh₂w- (benefit, gain), itself the source of ἀπολαύω (apolaúō).[2]
