Then, why other products are allowed, like: Adobe's products, Microsoft's and others, and even advertised in an article dealing with the type of the software, for example: OCR? File:Steadystate.png

Hi, Galzigler

I saw your new version of File:Steadystate.png and I cannot really understand the point of this upload. It is bigger (2.7x the previous version), lacks the User Settings section (less informative) and has a messy Windows chrome (uglier). Seems to me that apart from reminding people of a big failure known as Windows Vista, it serves no other purpose. If you have a good reason to keep your version, I am all ears.

Sorry, I don't have a Vista OS or an installation of it, and that's the only thing I could find. I secceed to run it under W7, but it's using its XP UI, so it doesn't really helps. Galzigler (talk) 19:26, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Don't worry. There is no mandate to use "the latest picture". Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a software update website like Download.com. As long as the picture fulfills its purpose, it is okay. Other elements like size, professional look and compliance with WP:NFCC are also important.

In response to your concern about the picture being possibly fake, I uploaded another version from Windows XP.

I am afraid we cannot accept a picture of Windows SteadyState running on Window 7 because it fails to comply with WP:NFCC, clauses 8 and 10. After all, image of a piece of software running on non-supported OS does not serve the purpose of indentification. Fleet Command (talk) 15:45, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

ORT Israel logo

I don't have any information about the type of license for logos in Wikimedia Commons. I got it from a teacher, so I can't give a bibliography (or a link to where it was taken from), although it can be found on the Internet, but in a lower quality. Galzigler (talk) 18:33, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

A logo like this meets the threshold of originality and should not have been uploaded to the Commons, which is only for freely useable files. It should have been uploaded here on the local en.wiki and tagged for fair use. I have downloaded to this wiki as file:Ort_Israel_logo.jpg and placed the correct templates on the image. It needs to be a bit smaller to meet our fair-use guidelines, so I have tagged it for reduction, and one of our editors that specialises in that task will be along soon to reduce it to a size that meets our guidelines. -- Dianna (talk) 20:12, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Windows RT Edit War (sigh)

Sorry, but I don't understand why was I asked to join this discussion. I never edited this page, and I don't know much about the subject. Basically, I think it was a stupid idea to compile Windows to ARM architecture just like that, without adding some sort of compatibility layer (a simple interpreter or a virtual machine) for x86 applications. Deleting interwiki links

Hi! Why are you mass-deleting interwiki links, such as this edit? They are there for good reasons and your edit comment "Wikidata" does not explain why you delete them. -- intgr [talk] 20:19, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

You may read about the change in Wikipedia's standard about interwiki links here. Interwiki links are no longer necessary, because they are now saved in one location - on Wikidata, so the situation where there is no synchronization between the articles, about the interwiki links won't happen anymore, and to save the space require for this code in the article itself. I saw a few edits of it, they usually clear that they delete the interwiki links, because it's now on Wikidata. I think it's just a waste for Wikimedia servers to write such a long description. They edits are also usually monitored by the admins to make sure the recent edits are not trolling and to verify the new contributions. I understand why it seems odd, because it's quite new, and entered Wikipedia only a month ago. Galzigler (talk) 20:44, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

PLEASE - it's not a waste at all - put a comment like "interwiki links now on wikidata" - an explanatory edit comment like this (NOT assuming that everyone is aware of everything) is never a waste (even if it takes a lot more space than in this instance to explain oneself properly) - while a cryptic one will often waste editors' time (much more valuable than the server's "time") working out what the hell is going on. Like mine in this instance - my initial reaction was that it was vandalism, and I had to take time off other things to work out what was going on. If I'd been hastier, busier, or just in a shitty mood, I could easily have started to reverse your edits as "unexplained" - and it would have been your fault. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 21:46, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

The Hebrew Wikipedia has a built in option for an edit summary about Wikidata, and that's all what it says, it's not giving any other information about the reason the interwiki links were removed. Anyway, I don't understand why bots aren't doing this job – cleaning the articles from those interwiki links in case there is a Wikidata item of it, the creation of the items should have also been done by bots, by combining the interwiki links from the parallel articles to make sure there are no missing entries, but apperently it's not what was happening. But this is the English Wikipedia and here we use edit comments to explain edits. Also with regards to "waste for Wikimedia servers", see Wikipedia:Don't worry about performance. Where is there a discussion showing that editors should delete interwiki links? From the stuff I've seen (and I have somewhat followed what's going on at wikidata), editors should not delete such links. For one thing, it will take some time for iw bots to be fixed so they don't re-add such links. Also, have you personally checked that the removed links are in fact recorded on the corresponding wikidata page? If so, the edit summary needs to say that. I saw some mention that a bot was going to given the task of performing that check, and removing the links, while at the same time doing some other useful maintenance work. Watchlists should not be cluttered with pointless edits such as removing iw links from hundreds of articles, unless something useful is also done. Johnuniq (talk) 23:29, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Galzigler. Like intgr, I was confused by your edit removing interwiki links, accompanied by a very terse edit summary. I spent a confused several seconds looking at the history thinking, "He deleted the interwiki links. But they're still there. Der?"

I think it would be helpful to use a somewhat more detailed edit summary. Maybe, as you said to intgr, "Interwiki links are no longer necessary", or perhaps "Interwiki links are now on Wikidata". Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 02:59, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Johnuniq. Yes, I checked that the articles are recorded on Wikidata (actually if the "Edit links" link appears at the buttom of the list of the interwiki links it means they are grabbed from a Wikidata item. About the bots, I saw that bots sometimes reverted those edits. Actually, some of my edits was to remove them again after a bot returned them, but the user who did it not noticed it. Discussion abou it? That's the purpose of the project - instead of it being recorded on articles multiple times, it's recorded only one time. Why is there a need to make any other change to remove the links? Bots aren't doing it, and right now there are no bots which removes the links. I hope someone will activate such a bot, as you said. I thought people around here are updated about this change - maybe Wikipedia sould advertise it using a banner, like they did with Wikivoyage. Galzigler (talk) 12:33, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

I found out there is a tag for Wikidata edit - if you write in the edit summary [[Wikidata]] this text will be added after the edit summary: "Removal of all interwiki links". It's not a part of the edit summary, but appears after it. Galzigler (talk) 17:28, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Since there a paragraph there explaining about the A-machine's sturcture and way-of-work (Turing's a-machine model). The A-machine isn't exacly the turing machine which is tought nowadays -- it gone through some changes. I agree that the A-machine model, since it's the definition made by Alan Turing, and the first model for a turing machine, should be explained in the article "Turing machine".
