I am not constantly or consistently on wiki at any given time. I might be able to spend 10 hours a day editing; or I may be away for extended periods of time. The reasons aren't important to wiki, but the point is that if you don't get a response here in short order - please feel free to look elsewhere. It has never been my intent to ignore anyone, and it never will be. If I don't respond in a reasonable time frame, feel free to ping me again, or drop me an email. If you post here, then 99.9% of the time I will answer (here). I try very hard to not ignore people. The few exceptions would be trolling, people I've asked to stay off my talk page (0 at last count), and vandalism that isn't funny. (funny vandalism is always at least smiled at prior to deletion). ~ Ched
Just a note on WP:AGF. This is a very good concept, both here and IRL. But per WP:PACT, AGF until proven otherwise. note 2: Given that the subtleties of English grammar aren't always apparent to all, sometimes just stating the truth is required. In case there any doubt: Good faith is not the same as respect. I can assume good faith, but respect must be earned.
Awww Littleolive oil, that is so sweet of you. I'm a bit embarrassed, and at a lack of words here. In some ways it feels like ages since we talked, in others it feels like yesterday. I guess that's the way it is for friends, even wiki ones. I think you deserve this for yourself more than me - but I am truly thankful. Bless you. — Ched (talk) 10:16, 23 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ched this is so deserved. You are one of the admins I count on for kindness and especially decorum and common sense. No pressure :O). My interest in Wikipedia has waned given some of the losses we've suffered. I've also had a poor connection for several months as I traveled-couldn't even tether to my phone. I hope you've been well. The Friendship Barnstar
I appreciate you so much, Ched. You're quiet thoughtfulness is a welcome reprieve from the noise of life for so many who interact with you here. I will forever cherish your gift to me at a time when I needed it so much. Your amazingly bright Song has left its impact on the surface of my heart and is eternally tied to the musical strings of my Life as a part of my Song. I am so grateful our paths have crossed and my Hope is for a prosperous and healthy year ahead for you and yours. ARoseWolf16:43, 6 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much ARoseWolf, you have no idea how much this means to me. While I've grown weary of the battles so prevalent on wiki, and become somewhat private in my efforts here - there are a few very good people (like yourself) that I cherish deeply. To know I've touched someone in a positive way means more to me than I could say with words. Your own gift of friendship puts you in some very rare company of the folks I know here. Thank you so much. — Ched (talk) 08:54, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
The highest honor I could hope to achieve is being called friend. I'm overly private about most details but I probably share more than I should. Still, its a genuine attempt to relate and be related with. No matter what we do as humans we are always trying to maintain relevance. You matter to this encyclopedia and the community as an important part of it. This idea that a human's unique POV in their approach to how things are written here doesn't matter is rubbish. NPOV doesn't mean we all have to see things the same way. Yours is a beautiful view of things and I appreciate you. --ARoseWolf18:59, 17 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
ARoseWolf First my apologies for the delay in my reply - health and weather issues haven't been the best. I'm honored to consider us friends. I'll try to drop you a line in the next day or two and introduce myself a bit less formally. :-). Your kindness is amazing, and I can't overstate how much it touches me. Talk soon, and best always, — Ched (talk) 12:00, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
No apology necessary. I disappear for days at a time usually doing something of immediate import to life here. I so look forward to hearing from you when I do. --ARoseWolf14:53, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
And thank you Gerda for everything you do here as well - especially showing such friendship to me. Your picture is lovely, one of my favorites in that list I looked at very recently. I also wish you a wonderful 2022 as well. — Ched (talk) 08:54, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
2022 began happily with vacation. I uploaded images but stopped at 22 January - click on songs. 30 January means 10 years of Precious. It's also the birthday of a friend, - I'm so happy I mentioned his DYK on his 90th birthday when he was still alive. I have a great singer on DYK whom I heard, Elena Guseva, and wait for a Recent death appearance of Georg Christoph Biller whom I saw in action. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:12, 30 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I noticed that you gave me precious in response 10 years ago, - you could use the same code if you want to do that again, - I learned the use of BASEPAGENAME today, - about time ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:57, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

For your superb work on Ice Station Zebra. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have brought renewed interest to this old, forgotten film. If it wasn’t for your improvements, we wouldn’t have much to go on. Thank you again for your commitment to quality film articles. Viriditas (talk) 08:36, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your work as an admin, Ched. I wish you the best and genuinely hope that your health improves and hope to see you around. If you ever need anything on here in terms of rights/flags or whatnot, feel free to ping...I'd be happy to help. TheSandDoctorTalk18:54, 18 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ched, you are a phenomenal person, an amazing editor and this community deserves more admins like you, not less. I count it such an honor to call you friend. You were so influential in getting me through my health issues in 2021. Those were some long lonely days and nights. I know the health issues have plagued you recently and I so hope they get resolved so you can continue to share your Song with everyone you meet. Strength, courage and peace for you, that's my hope and wish. Thank you for serving this community as a kind teacher and faithful admin and continuing to be a confidant and friend to myself. --ARoseWolf14:08, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for great patient kind admin work for as long as I'm here. Yesterday, we sang old music for two choirs at church, pictured, scroll to the image of the organ of the month of the Diocese of Limburg (my perspective), and if you have time, watch the video about it. And today I wrote an article about music premiered today, Like as the hart, thinking of you. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:40, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely want to echo everyone here. Selfishly I want to thank you for the RfA co-nom nearly 13 years ago, but you've been a real rock here for ages and ages. Best wishes for your continued health, we've all been lucky to have you. ~ Amory(u • t • c)00:37, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ched, I'm not even sure why, but I associate your name with moderation, courtesy and good sense – all qualities I wish I had more of – so I was sorry to see you turn in your admin tools. May I wish you all the very best, and a speedy recovery from whatever is ailing you? And hope to see you around from time to time? Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:04, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hey Ched, we haven't interacted much, but I always recognized your name as one of the most sensible and honest people on here. I hope everything is OK and you recover from whatever is affecting you. Prayers. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:51, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I saw your message at WP:BN. I don't think we've had that much interaction over the years, but yours has always been a username I associated with level-headed wisdom and kindness. One of our best. I wish you the best possible outcomes with the medical challenges you face. I wish you peace. --Dweller (talk) Old fashioned is the new thing!08:23, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I remember our very first direct interaction. We didn't interact much, but I always came around your username, and Dweller put my feelings into words very well. I wish you great health. I hope you still edit once in a while. Take care of yourself, and yours. —usernamekiran (talk)12:08, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I was going through my notifications and saw this chat between you and Gerda Arendt. I am surely not the first person to say this, and I hope I will not be the last. I hope you are well, no matter what Wikipedia throws at you. Geometry guy23:28, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

That includes you, Ched. I'm so glad my friend is still coming around. I hope you are well. I think of you often and still cherish your gift. Thank you for being such a kind, thoughtful, and caring person. --ARoseWolf15:30, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nice to hear from you! - Great music (in June, I'm behind: three great RMF concerts)! - Last Saturday, a friend played for us at her birthday party, on four instruments including baryton, with family (granddaughters!) and colleagues, from Renaissance to Haydn. - My story today is very personal: the DYK appeared on Wikipedia's 15th birthday, and describes a concert I sang. I was requested to translate the bio into German for a memorial concert ... - see background, and we talked about life and death. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:26, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
Ched, one of the first people I got to know here, and the first ever to send me an email: thank you for what you do and stand for! I wish you a good festive season and a peaceful New Year! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:06, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
