Chapel Hill, Not Carrboro

As much as I love Carrboro, JT was not raised there. The Morgan Creek neighborhood, where Ike Taylor owned acreage adjoining a small subdivision between 15-501, now Fordham Blvd, and the Morgan Creek itself, is in Chapel Hill and has been for years. Faust?

i dont know who started this ridiculous policy of always posting the most current picture of celebrities at the top of the page. both Taylor's accomplishments and fame apexed when he was much younger. i think half the people who edit Wiki dont even know about the topics they are editing -- it's all about using their Wiki expertise.

Blender's wuss

It seems some people here [1] object to including the mention that Taylor was named Blender Magazine's wussiest rocker even though: 1) IT HAPPENED and 2) IT'S SOURCED. Wikipedia is NOT just for good news, everything about Taylor as it pertains to him as a musician and public figure is relevant for inclusion. I happen to like Taylor very much, but I am not going to sugar-coat the fact that Blender doesn't like him. What I wrote about it is not misleading or subjective in any way [2] and I'm putting it back. Wikipedia readers can draw their own subjective conclusions about Blender, but mere fact that the incident is reported here is hardly misleading. Wl219 00:17, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Corrected high school

I've corrected the information on the school from which Taylor graduated. The article (and the cited reference) had incorrectly identifed Chapel Hill High School, when in fact, he attended and graduated from McLean's Arlington School. — Aldaron • T/C 16:35, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

In addition to the Boston Globe article, I've added a biography. Note also that, if anything, the old, incorrect citation was more of a "fan page" (for Chapel Hill). In expanding the early years sections, I've added detail on this from the White biography. Taylor left the Milton Academy fairly early in his junior year, and spent the rest of that year at Chapel Hill High School. He returned to Milton for his senior year, but left around Thanksgiving to check into McLean. He then graduated from McLean's associated Arlington School. Relationships and Biographical info

There isn't enough information on JT's relationships.. how they came about, ended, etc. Unless I missed it somewhere, I don't see any mention of when Taylor's marriage to Simon ended and why, and then the next thing I see is that he has wed for the 3rd time. What happened in between? Who and when was #2? Likewise, his friendship with Carole King and connection to her isn't really touched upon. Where and how did Taylor decide upon a surrogate mother for children when he & his wife are so far along in years, particularly after Simon's complaints that Taylor had not "been there" enough for Ben and Sally? (I'm not complaining, but trying to point out some gaps in this article.. Revert of James Taylor edit on McLean stay

Are you certain about your recent revert of my edit to James Taylor? My change of meaning was intentional: my reading of the materials (and understanding of the campus and hospital) is that the part of McLean where Taylor spent his time was, in fact, the Arlington School. Agreed that Arlington is part of McLean. But the sources I've read all talk about McLean in terms of treatment and Arlington in terms of schooling. But JT's statement that his stay there was a lifesaver was referring to McLean (his treatment), not Arlington (his education). That's what your change made unclear. It's hard to tell from the sources. I think you may be right about the "lifesaver", but the article is ambiguous; he could mean Arlington (or both). I'm less sure about the "nine months". My reading is that that refers to the total time at Arlington/McLean. Was he housed somewhere else on the campus during that entire time? Also the treatment vs. schooling distinction was not clear cut: that's probably an error in the sources. Certainly his sibs identify with Arlington (and not McLean, as such). Not So Complete List

In the section James Taylor Colaborators, the "following ... complete list of the musicians who have played or sung with James Taylor either in concert or on recordings" wasn't (complete, that is; I just added a name) and probably still isn't (what are the odds that I picked up the only omission?) Note that the statement does not limit the list to those who've played or sung in his (Taylor's) concerts or on his recordings.

I added Paul Simon, as he, Taylor, and Art Garfunkel performed Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World" together on Garfunkel's album Water Mark. So, I also took the word "complete" out; it seemed presumptuous. Joe Avins (talk) 00:45, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Not only is it not complete, it doesn't belong at all. Any musician who's been around for decades will have a similarly lengthy set of people they've played with, but few if any other WP articles contain such a list. According to JT's bio on Pandora Radio:

JT's Singles list or a link to a sequential list is missing, Also when each single article is listed with it's predecessor to the left and subsequent single to the right of of the current single article and this chronology is broken at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_and_Rain_(song) and jumps backward in time to 1969 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_in_My_Mind. Heroin treatment

It says that the deaths of Dennis Wilson and John Belushi spurred James to kick his heroin habit, but this occurred in September of 1983, and Dennis didn't die for another four months, so how could that be the case if Dennis was still living at the time? 60.240.8.249 (talk) 12:23, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

When, exactly, was the motorcycle accident?

If the motorcycle accident happened on the evening of July 20, 1969, then JT would have a nearly-unique perspective on "One small step for [a] man" which transpired later that evening. This show really did win a regional Emmy (specifically, a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award) but James Taylor personally was not among the recipients; this can be verified at [3] where the award is listed as follows:

Handy Man cover

@TheScotch: In the 17:05, 8 March 2023 revision of James Taylor, you changed the statement that James Taylor's cover of Jimmy Jones's and Otis Blackwell's "Handy Man" hit number 1 to instead state that Jimmy Jones's and Otis Blackwell's "Handy Man" hit number 1.

This is not only highly misleading, it completely misses the point. The number 1 hit was a result of James Taylor's rendition of this cover. Please clarify if I am missing something. Fabrickator (talk) 01:25, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
