Congratulations! Excellent content.

i think that the part about the 1985 match between Olimpia Milano and Aris is uncorrect. Milan won cause it was the strongest team of Europe in that years, played also against NBA team loosing just for a bunch of points, and in few years won 6 national championship, 2 Eurocup, 1 Korac, 1 World Cup, and was runner-up other 4 times in the championship, 1 time in Eurocup and was the first club invited to play against NBA clubs as rapresentant of Europe.

so Olimpia won on +34 points not for something of dirty, but cause it was the strongest.

another prove is that this so "big" Aris of mid 80's won anything in Europe, and just at home.

"Much has been said about backstage scenarios that led to this result, but nothing has been proven" where? maybe on the local newspapers...dont' forget that playing basketball in that years in Greece was a pure hell, with tons of coins flying down on the fields over the heads of the players, and other not polite stuffs. the local newspapers were famous in whole Europe for the low level and for the uncorrect view of the sport, not as a game, but as a battle. and more, basketball in that years was a new entry in Greece, that never was at top level in Europe, so newspapers, fans and local players were not able to win, but also not able to loose!

Totally unencyclopedic for me

edit

as it is written now, this article is really not in an encyclopedic style

let me just quote this as an example "Leadership of Lefteris Hatzopoulos quits, Efthimis Kioumourtzoglou is not longer our coach and ARIS is on God's will since those dramatic moments of the club took place. We have no money, but we 've got plenty of soul. Within two weeks, we beat all of the -considered- big teams of Greece (Olympiakos, paok, Panathinaikos and Aek), the two last ones in the Final four of the Greek Cup and we become winners of the 1997-98 Greek Cup. Mario Boni was about to leave us too before the Final-4 but he stayed cause he loves us, and he helped a lot in this tremendous effort. Then he moved in Roma as he couldn't stand it anymore either. Braveheart Aris continues with 8 players from now on."

WE???WHO is this we? Anyep 20:31, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article is word by word copy of an Aris Fan site

Thats the meaning of "we"=aris fans. --ArnoldPettybone 17:17, 14 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

WE means...

edit

In the years between 1986 and 1990 evervyone in Greece was Aris, one way or another, there was not a single person that did not support Aris back then that's what "we" means. Aris made Greeks proud all over the world. And Aris is the only non national team in Greek sports history that managed to do that and probably will be the only one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.130.94.122 (talk) 04:49, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I erased the part where it refers to PAOK as the "second biggest athletic club of Thessaloniki"; this is not an objective truth, just a subjective opinion which the writer has probably because he is a fan of Aris. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.130.245.189 (talk) 15:09, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Aris' Cups

edit

Although the Official Hellenic Basketball Federation Site, the Aris B.C. Official site, the The-Sports.org Site, the Contra.gr Sport site and many more sites and books say that Aris B.C. won 8 Greek Cups (1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1998, 2004), according the Wikipedia article Greek Basketball Cup and its source Hellas Cup by Basketpedya, Aris B.C. won 9 Greek Cups, including the year of 1966.

Note that the qualifying rounds, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals of the 1966 competition and also the date, the score, the runner-up and the venue of the 1966 final, are completely unknown, in opposite of all the rest since 1975-76 Greek Cups that are all availiable in Official Hellenic Basketball Federation Site.

To be true, I tried to invert that information but it was impossible, maybe I'm wrong. It seems that all the Aris' B.C. men are a bit stupid, as they don't add in their honour and they don't put in their trophy case the 1966 Greek Cup. It also seems that Wikipedia never do wrong. Team roster vital statistics

edit

I have checked the roster entries, and typically the American players have their weight and height listed in their professional online profile. But the profile of the Greek players lists only their height. The entries without reliable sources should remain blank. Please propose a new table here and explain where are the sources supporting the player stats. Thank you. Dr. K. 18:12, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
