The Legacy of P-22: LA’s Famous Mountain Lion

P-22 was first discovered to be living in Griffith Park by USC Dornsife Alumnus Miguel Ordeñana (B.A. ’05 environmental studies), who recorded the big cat on camera while working with local biologists at the Griffith Park Connectivity Study. P-22 crossed two major freeways and lived in an urban habitat for a decade. He suffered from injuries and was euthanized in 2022.
