Veronica Guerin is a 2003 biographical crime film directed by Joel Schumacher and based on the life of Guerin and her covering of Irish crime that lead to her death. It stars Cate Blanchett, Gerard McSorley, Ciarán Hinds, Brenda Fricker, and Amy Shiels.

Synopsis

Veronica Guerin, the Irish journalists, writes her stories about Irish crime as she is intimidated, but unmoved by the constant threats she faces.

• Jodie Foster was considered for the lead role. Joan Allen was going to star when John Mackenzie was attached to direct. Danny DeVito was interested in directing and even met with Guerin's family, proposing Winona Ryder for the part.
