Belle (also known as the Showgirl Pig), is a character from the Disney Parks.
History[]
Background[]
The Showgirl Pig is an anthropomorphic pig. In the "Gay Nineties" sequence of the attraction, she would sing "(Won't You Come Home) Big Bailey" during the attraction's third act where she wonders why her love interest Bill Bailey (an unseen character) won't come, trying to look for him as she sings.
Development[]
The Showgirl Pig was created for the America Sings attraction at Disneyland in the Tomorrowland section where she was placed in the "Gay Nineties" sequence where she sings the song, "(Won't You Come Home) Big Bailey", which opened on June 29, 1974. However, America Sings closed on April 10, 1988 in order to retheme the attraction to Innoventions, with the Showgirl Pig and most of the animatronics moved to Splash Mountain at the Critter Country section, which opened on July 17, 1989 where she was placed during the finale sequence.
As of 2020 due to Splash Mountain being completely reimagined into an attraction themed after The Princess and the Frog in order to remove references to Song of the South (which Splash Mountain is based on), Splash Mountain in Disneyland permanently closed on May 31, 2023.
Belle was replaced by Pawpaw the Bobcat for the final scene of the new attraction.

America Sings[]
The Showgirl Pig was featured during the former attraction's third act, "Gay Nineties" where she seen singing "(Won't You Come Home) Bill Bailey". Throughout the sequence, she is seen singing the song about why her love interest Bill Bailey isn't coming, thinking that he isn't available to meet her while Sam and Ollie listen to her performance. After she sings, it loops into another sequence where the Weasel pops out of a potted plant just before Blossom-nose Murphy is introduced.
Splash Mountain[]
In the Disneyland version of Splash Mountain, Belle can be seen at the end of the attraction, singing the musical number "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" along with a whole chorus of animals welcoming Br'er Rabbit in his home at the Briar Patch after escaping from Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear. She is seen wearing a yellow bow atop of her head as well as a rainbow dress and a yellow apron on it unlike in her America Sings incarnation.
