Michael Clarke Duncan was an American actor, who was best known for his breakout role as John Coffey in the 1999 drama film The Green Mile (in which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe Award). He also voiced Sam the Old English Sheepdog in the 2001 spy comedy film Cats & Dogs and its 2010 sequel, Clydesdale the horse in the 2005 sports comedy film Racing Stripes, Big Daddy, the leader of the Tinysauruses in The Land Before Time franchise, and Commander Vachir in DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda.

For Disney, he voiced Tug in the 2003 Disney animated feature film Brother Bear and its 2006 sequel, the Mean Lion in George of the Jungle 2, the Wolf in Air Buddies, and played Coach Little in an episode of the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. He also appeared making a speech in the park attraction Armageddon - Les Effets Speciaux, where he played "Bear" in the Armageddon film, and voiced an adult Wade in Kim Possible: A Sitch in Time, Mongo in The Proud Family, and Groot in the Ultimate Spider-Man episode "Guardians of the Galaxy", the episode being dedicated to his memory. Additionally, he portrayed Eli in Breakfast of Champions and Kingpin in the 2003 Fox film Daredevil. The latter role was later played by Vincent D'Onofrio in the 2015 reboot TV series.
