This article is about the location from The Nightmare Before Christmas. For other articles that share the same name, see Halloweentown.
Halloween Town is the primary setting of the film The Nightmare Before Christmas. It is one of seven holiday worlds seen in the film (with Christmas Town being the only other holiday world featured in the story) in a place called the Hinterlands.
Both the scenery and the characters are based on imagery commonly associated with Halloween, such as skeletons, ghouls, monsters, black cats, etc. The area is located through a door (represented by a jack-o-lantern) in the Hinterlands.
Every year on Halloween, the residents throw a big song and dance which ends with Jack Skellington emerging out of the town fountain. This is also the opening of the movie, as well as the song "This is Halloween". The inhabitants include Jack Skellington (the "Pumpkin King" in charge of yearly Halloween festivities), Sally the Ragdoll, Dr. Finkelstein, the Mayor, and Lock, Shock and Barrel.
Despite what humans think, apart from Oogie Boogie, Lock, Shock and Barrel, the inhabitants are not evil and only scare people, because that is their job to do so.
Trivia[]
In the Kingdom Hearts series, Sora, Donald, and Goofy use magic to turn into a vampire, mummy, and patchwork person to blend in with the locals. However, their appearances alter upon going to Christmas Town.
The latter, however, was only true in the Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts II, as in the original release, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jack remained in their Halloween Town outfits; the Final Mix version gave them all Christmas-themed outfits, with Jack's appropriately changing to his Santa outfit.
