Claudia is a character who appeared in the 2009 Disney/Pixar animated short Partly Cloudy.

Background

Personality

Claudia shows a generous yet caring personality to any stork she encounters. Whenever a stork approaches her, Claudia would occasionally make a creation for them - usually a baby (such as human boys or girls, puppies, or ducklings) which after creating, the stork would deliver the baby to their correct parents. She is also capable of creating props either for what babies would like (such as a football). Additionally, she is also shown to be kind to storks that kindly interact with the babies she created for them to deliver such as a stork interacting with a puppy or another stork playing "Follow the leader" with ducklings. She is also compassionate in helping storks that need help delivering babies created by thunder clouds, such as Gus. In Claudia's case, she helps give storks protective equipment to resist injuries the baby animals inflict on them, such as the case of helping Peck resist injuries the baby animals inflict on him by giving him a football helmet with a football pad.

Physical appearance

Claudia has the appearance of a typical cloud seen in real life - regardless whether it is day or it is sunset. She has anthropomorphic characteristics like all the anthropomorphic clouds the storks wait to get their babies for them to deliver. She is shown to have humanoid characteristics, making her a humanoid cloud with a pudgy head, long nose, two eyes, and two fluffy eyebrows located below her rollers that make up her hair as well as having a stout body with human-like arms.

Claudia is first seen creating a baby boy while a stork patiently waits for the baby for him to deliver to his parents. As the baby cries, Claudia gives him a football as a toy he can play with. She then creates a football helmet and places it on the baby. However, the stork disagrees, telling Claudia that the football helmet is too big for the baby, so she wraps the boy in a delivery bag just before the stork delivers the baby to his parents. Later when Peck is about to deliver a baby bighorn sheep (which was created by Gus) to his parents, he becomes distracted and sees Claudia observing another stork interacting with a puppy, which it leaps onto her just before it licks the stork, as Claudia feels happy that the dog likes the stork; however, Peck decides to deliver the bighorn sheep to his parents instead.

Later after Gus shows an image of a shark pup to Peck, he then sees another stork playing "Follow the leader" with a bunch of baby chicks that Claudia created, as she happily observes him and the chicks playing together just before the stork delivers the chicks to their parents. Peck sheepishly flies towards Claudia who happily notices that Peck is here to help, while Gus discards the incomplete shark image and then grows upset that he has no one to talk to. Claudia then gives Peck a delivery bag containing football equipment inside, just before returning to Gus, which he puts on a football helmet and a football pad to protect himself from injuries the baby animals give to him.

• Claudia's name was not mentioned in the short nor in the audio commentary for Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 2 and was revealed in a Partly Cloudy-inspired book published by Disney Press.
• Claudia's name is a pun on the given name "Claudia" and the word "cloud".
