Migration Assistant Using USB-C

I just picked up my new Mac Studio. When I set it up I want to migrate everything, via Migration Assistant, from my late 2014 (purchased in 2018) Mac Mini to the new Mac. Can I connect them with a USB-C cable (male to male) to run the migration?

Thanks

Mac mini, macOS 12.7

You can connect a USB-C cable. However, because USB is generally a peripheral interface, and not a Networking interface, it will likely fall back to creating an ad hoc Wi-Fi network between the computers for the transfer.

if you could make a genuine Thunderbolt connection, that would likely be used.

You could connect an Ethernet cable if both devices have an Ethernet interface, With or Without your Router in the middle.

Readers say the very fastest way to set up the new computer is by attaching the Time machine backup drive from the old computer as a drive on the new computer.
