Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Man Who Heard Too Much"

After wrapping up another case, Doiby tries to get out of Green Lantern taking him on another harrowing adventure: his dentist appointment. Luckily for Doiby, before the doctor can get to work, a man with an ear trumpet runs in begging for help just before a posse of armed gangsters charges in looking for him. After the heroes see off the malcontents, the man explains himself: he's 3-Ears Lobe, called that because of the ear trumpet he uses. However, lately he's miraculously been able to hear criminals planning crimes. The ones chasing him had seen Lobe listening to them and thought to silence him. Lobe then tells the pair about another upcoming job, a robbery at a boat show, which is happening as Green Lantern lands. Another battle breaks out, and Lantern and Doiby succeed in catching the criminals despite a sail falling over the heroes.

Green Lantern thinks he's got a lead on this mystery, and (over his protests) takes Lobe back to the dentist's office. The gang who tried to kill him there before is there again, figuring eventually he'd come back, and when they try to attack Lobe, the dentist helps Lobe escape, and a distracted Lantern and Doiby are knocked out. When they regain consciousness, tied up, Lantern explains Lobe can't magically hear crimes being plotted: he listens in on purpose to try and hijack a crime that's already being planned. The gang set the office on fire to dispose of the heroes, but they escape by upending the radiator and dousing the flames. Next, Green Lantern makes a phone call and pretends to be announcing a robbery at the planetarium to the rest of his imaginary gang.

Sure enough, Lobe shows up at the planetarium, with an army of crooks behind him that he'd ripped off before. After Green Lantern and Doiby subdue them, Lantern explains what was really going on: Lobe's ear trumpet is actually a phone tapper and he used it to listen in on criminals calling each other about the details of their upcoming plans. With that adventure behind them, Doiby finds himself right back where it began: in a dentist's chair.

Synopsis for Doctor Mid-Nite: "Gamblers of the Gridiron"

Red Johnny Lowe was the star quarterback of the Yellow Jackets. His game was attended by Slim, a mobster who bet money on the game. When Red wins with a touchdown, Slim cashes out and gives him half the winnings, but Red doesn't accept. One night, Red gets jumped by some thugs and roughed up. Dr. Mid-Nite comes to his rescue, delivering a few expert tackles himself. At first, Red seems to be okay, but the next day during the game his leg gives out and he can no longer play. Slim planned this, having placed a bet on the other team this time even with the odds stacked against them. Without Red playing, the team felt their morale go down. Again, Dr. Mid-Nite comes to help, making an offer to Red's coach that he'll sub for Red. With Red's vouching for the Dr's skills, the coach lets him onto the field. A few minutes before the end of the game, the lights are shut off by one of Slim's men, but because Dr. Mid-Nite can see in the dark, the Yellow Jackets win anyway. After scoring the winning goal, Dr. Mid-Nite catches the gang along with Slim and sends them off to jail.
