Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Case of the Curious Critters"
All Doiby Dickles was hired to do was to take Dr. Damon to the airport in his cab. He never expected to help him pack, nor did he ask to be accidentally sealed inside a crate being sent overseas with Dr. Damon. But that's exactly what happened, and at least the good doctor is kind enough to let Doiby phone home to ask his friend Alan Scott to come pick him up. Too frustrated to sit and wait, Doiby goes outside to clear his head. Out in the jungle are many wild and dangerous beasts, like an alligator that grabs Doiby by the straps of his suspenders and carries him across the river. And then something strange happens; the alligator stands up on its hind legs and bows to him.
Alan, as the Green Lantern, arrives at Dr. Damon's hut. The doctor tells him that Doiby left, and also asked for his help investigating some strange behaviors by the animals. But Green Lantern's only concern then was to find Doiby, who is currently being chased by a whole gang of various animals. The two finally reunite in a native village. A gorilla walks up to them and writes the word 'Scram' in the dirt at their feet before walking away. While Lantern and Doiby ponder the creatures intelligence, the native tribe attacks them from behind! Thanks to the power of the ring, however, the natives are quickly beaten. One of them begs for mercy, telling Alan it was the gorillas orders to capture them. The beasts have been threatening them, forcing them to mine gold. He mentions a red haired man that came awhile back, and since then, intelligent animals have taken control of the natives. Alan uses the power ring to guide him to where the "red-haired man" was hiding, within a small cabin, guarded by more gorillas. They are taken inside, to a robot-building workshop, and a red headed man named Joseph Wyvern. Then all the animals that showed human intelligence were just robots Wyvern designed. He wanted the natives to dig gold for him, though his creations weren't designed to cause harm, just to scare them. Wyvern just needed the gold to fund his work, and after he had enough, he planned to let the natives go. What he doesn't realize until Alan points it out, is that with his robotic creations he could already be making a fortune. He didn't even need the gold! Wyvern is told to let the natives keep the gold, and he agrees.
And so, Alan Scott and Doiby return to Dr. Damon's research hut. While the doctor is distracted talking with Green Lantern, Doiby gets sealed up again in another crate, this time headed back home.

Synopsis for Doctor Mid-Nite: "The Cardboard Hero"
Eddie Vickers was a man who idolized fictional heroes from the old days, wishing his life was more adventurous like theirs. Working late in the drugstore, Eddie is suddenly held up by three men with a gun. The men are suddenly surprised by Dr. Mid-Nite charging them from out of a phone booth. Eddie decides to fight back as well, landing a hard blow on one of the robbers. He swings his fists all around, accidentally striking Dr. Mid-Nite and knocking him to the ground. The crooks take the chance to get away. Surprised by the power in Eddie's fist, Dr. Mid-Nite tells him that with the right training he can go places.
Later, down at the gym Eddie trains in the boxing ring with Dr. Mid-Nite acting as his coach. As a way to set a trap for the crooks, he books Eddie to compete in the Silver Gloves tournament as a "mysterious new contender" for the amateur title. It should draw a huge crowd, which will bring a large sum at the box office. The crooks won't be able to resist.
The night of the final rounds at the tournament, Eddie and Dr. Mid-Nite wait in the dressing room. Down the hall, the three crooks have already made their way to the box office. The Doc and Eddie follow them inside and start beating them back. Eddie holds his own, as he and Dr. Mid-Nite make quick work of the men. Later in the ring, Eddie uses everything he's learned to beat his opponent, making him the new champion, someone who the neighborhood kids would look up to and admire, the same way Eddie used to do with his own heroes.
