Synopsis for Green Lantern: "Tunnel Under Construction"
A new subway tunnel being dug collapses, and some inspectors find evidence of shoddy materials, leading to the head of the construction company, Mr. Rolland, being convicted of criminal negligence. They were secretly in the employ of Rolland's assistant, Jenkins, now head of the company. Jenkins kills one for trying to extort him for more money, then encases the body and evidence in cement and dumps them in the river. As Green Lantern, Alan Scott decides to look into the case on behalf of Rolland's daughter, June. Trying to interrogate the other inspector, Green Lantern instead finds himself implicated for murder when Jenkins shoots the man before he can confess. Not long after, Jenkins finds he's won the bid to build a large tunnel, but right underneath where he dumped all the evidence of his wrongdoing, and plans to start building the tunnel but sabotage the area so the body's never found.
One night Green Lantern tails Irene Miller and June Rolland as they go to investigate the building site of the new tunnel, which has been plagued by dangerous accidents. After coming out of the decompression chamber, they find Jenkins planting bombs. He locks them inside, to be destroyed when the explosives go off. Green Lantern tries to come to the rescue but the tunnel has a wooden door, forcing him to fly down from directly above and burrow his way through the rock and metal with his ring. In the process he also finds the cement coffin of the first murdered inspector. After Irene and June are rescued, thanks to Doiby using Jenkins' head as a battering ram to knock down the door, Green Lantern cracks open the cement coffin and exposes the evidence that fingers Jenkins and clears his own good name.

Synopsis for Atom: "The Carnival of Crime"
The students of Calvin College decide to ask a carnival running nearby to help raise money for their prom, but Al Pratt discovers that Joe Fink, the owner, is running rigged games and salivating at the thought of a load of easy money before skipping town. Despite being overcome and thrown in the river inside a bundled-up tent canvas, Atom escapes Joe Fink, exposes him, and knocks Fink out as he tries to escape with his ill-gotten gains by hitting him in the face with a seesaw.

Synopsis for Sargon: "The Tale of the True-Tongue Barak"
Crook Bill Barak tries to interest Sargon in joining his operation by telling lies about representing an honest business concern, but Sargon enchants a mirror that shows Barak is nothing but a rat and a skunk. The wizard decides to teach Barak a harsh lesson by enchanting Barak so anything he says will come true. Like his men "going soft" and hitting Sargon like wet dough before they attack him, the heavyweight champion really showing up for a boxing match when Barak tries to save face by saying he'd take the champ on, then waking up in the hospital after a beating when he tells his henchmen he and the champ really did go a few rounds. More confusion ensues when Barak tries to exploit this power by telling rival gangsters they want to join his outfit, but he panics and literally goes to pieces when he says so. Sargon confronts Barak again, who says he's a rock, and immediately freezes motionless. Sargon chides Barak for thinking having power is easy, and gives him one last chance, which Barak takes, and opens a grocery store instead.
