- إن صناعة النفط في المكسيك جعلتها تحلّ في المرتبة الحادية عشرة من حيث إنتاج النفط في العالم والثالثة عشر من حيث صافي الصادرات. تمتلك المكسيك سابع أكبر احتياطي نفطي في العالم، وهي رابع أكبر منتجٍ للنفط في نصف الكرة الغربي بعد الولايات المتحدة وكندا وفنزويلا. إن المكسيك ليست عضوًا في منظمة البلدان المصدّرة للنفط (أوبك) أو في أي منظماتٍ ذات صلة بإنتاج النفط، ولكنها أصبحت عضوً في اتفاقية التجارة الحرّة لأمريكا الشمالية منذ عام 1994. يعتبر قطاع البترول قطاعًا بالغ الأهمية للاقتصاد المكسيكي. ورغم انخفاض إنتاج النفط في السنوات الأخيرة، لا تزال عائدات النفط تحقّق أكثر من 10% من عائدات الصادرات المكسيكية. توفّر الضرائب المرتفعة على عائدات شركة بيميكس (نفط المكسيك) حوالي ثلث جميع عائدات الضرائب التي جمعتها الحكومة المكسيكية. Der Erdölsektor nimmt eine zentrale Rolle für die mexikanische Wirtschaft ein. Die Einnahmen aus dem Erdölexport belaufen sich auf ca. 15 % der mexikanischen Exporterlöse, wiewohl der Anteil rückläufig ist. Die Einnahmen aus dem Erdölgeschäft (inkl. - The petroleum industry in Mexico makes Mexico the eleventh largest producer of oil in the world and the thirteenth largest in terms of net exports. Mexico has the seventeenth largest oil reserves in the world, and it is the fourth largest oil producer in the Western Hemisphere behind the United States, Canada and Venezuela. Mexico is not a member of the OPEC (the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) or any petroleum production related organizations, but since 1994 it is a member of the North American Free Trade Agreement. The petroleum sector is crucial to the Mexican economy; while its oil production has fallen in recent years, oil revenues still generate over 10% of Mexico's export earnings. High taxes on the revenues of Pemex provide about a third of all the tax revenues collected by the Mexican government. (en)
