- Der Alcock Tarn ist ein See im Lake District, Cumbria, England. Der See liegt am Butter Crag unterhalb des östlich des Ortes Grasmere. Der Alcock Tarn wurde bis Ende des 19. Jh. als Butter Crags Tarn bezeichnet. Da ein Herr Alcock aus Grasmere ihn dann mit einem kleinen Damm aufstaute, um Forellen in ihn einzusetzen, wechselte er dann seinen Namen. - Alcock Tarn is a lake in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. It is located high in the fells on Heron Pike, roughly a mile and a half east of Grasmere. Alcock Tarn was originally known as Butter Crags Tarn and was enlarged by means of a stone and earth dam in the 19th century to a depth of about 6 ft (1.8 m). The owner, a Mr Alcock of Grasmere, then stocked it with brown trout. (en)
