I was wondering why OP identified it as a sconce - I thought maybe it
was the face plate attached to the light fixture but it seems rather

The name of the artist is impossible to see from your photo. A close up
of just the signature would help. Are you sure it's a painting and not a

I agree with @wastingtime101 that the first two characters are MV. From
the little I say of the painting it appears to be a Judaica themed
portrait from the hat and what could be a prayer shawl, but hard to

Both this one and the other one you posted look earlier than mid 20th
century to me. More like art deco, 30's or 40's maybe. There is a
pottery group on ebay where you might find knowledgeable people to help.
