Semper Fi. My step-dad was a gunnery sergeant in the 2nd Marine Division during WW2.
He fought on Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa, among other hot spots. He was stern and strict to a degree, taught me how to fish, shoot, and hunt. As a kid, I thought he was too strict, but looking back, I appreciate all he did for me. Later in life, we were closer than ever... I miss him every day.
