Can you tell me why my organic impressions are outdoing my promoted listings?  Especially, when I have all my listings being promoted from 2-5% and 8 to 10 %.  Ever since you went to offsite advertising along with all these other changes you have been making I am watching my sales slag.   Why, would I want to pay for additional advertising off site to bring back to ebay and pay promoted listing fee along with a final value fee?  If I wanted to do off site advertising I would bring customers to my own web page.  Plus, bonanza puts me on google shopping.

I have reached out to customer service, your team on Facebook regarding this issue.  One says there some glitch in my account.  I had a Brian A. advisor consultation from ebay suppose to be helping, but I haven't heard from him in weeks.

If we use general and priority advertising on the same items, are we being charged both fees?

Hi @pistachio.enterprises!  Promoting your listings with a priority strategy follows a cost-per-click advertising model, and you will always be charged for valid clicks on your priority ads, but you will only be charged for general ads if a buyer clicks on a general ad and then purchases any of your items promoted with the general strategy within 30 days of a click on one of your general ads.

  • When promoting your listings with a general strategy, if a buyer clicks on a general ad and then purchases any of your items promoting with the general strategy within 30 days, it will be considered a promoted sale and an ad fee will be charged.
  • If the item purchased is the same as the item featured in the general ad the buyer clicked on, we will charge the ad fee in effect at the time of the click. This type of sale is known as a Direct sale.
  • If the item purchased is different from the item featured in the general ad the buyer clicked on, we will charge the ad fee for the purchased item in effect at the time of the sale. This type of sale is known as a Halo Item sale.
  • If you have listings promoted via both the general and priority campaign strategy, you will be charged for Attributed Sales from general clicks even if your ad received a subsequent priority click. Reporting will be updated accordingly to include this sales for both campaign types.
  • Note: You will always be charged for valid clicks on priority ads, regardless of the attributed sale. Priority ads continue to follow our cost-per-click pricing model.

Hi @mflorenzano2016

Advertising on eBay remains optional to sellers. For those who determine that advertising aligns with their business objectives, we encourage them to explore and utilize solutions based on goals. It’s important to test different strategies to determine what’s right for your individual business. We’re sorry to hear you and Brian have not had an opportunity to connect. He will reach out soon.

Here’s a bit more about Promoted Offsite to determine if it’s the right fit for you. Promoted Offsite provides continuous exposure for your listings and gives you more control over your advertising investments. You can set your own target daily budget to help scale your performance and reach more potential buyers. With Promoted Offsite, you can also tap into a much broader range of external channels than you would be able to when promoting you listings with the general strategy alone, giving you even more opportunities to increase your sales and grow your business. In fact, Sellers see a 25% increase in sales from external channels by utilizing Promoted Offsite, on average.

@community_team  The new ads experience appears to have gotten rid of the report that used to give sellers visibility to whether ad fees came from Direct or Halo attribution.

The link to the old report https://pls.ebay.com/plsweb/sales  was still active up until 7/13/24, but has since been redirected to the new dashboard page which from my testing does not currently have any reports that shows Direct or Halo attribution.

Why was access to this report removed and when can sellers expect to regain visibility into this critical data?

If eBay does not plan to provide reporting that shows Halo or Direct attribution for sales, please explain why the decision was made to provide less transparency with the new dashboard.

Hi @valueaddedresource!.

At eBay, we're dedicated to creating an advertising platform that serves the diverse needs of our sellers and enhances the overall user experience. In pursuit of this goal, we may occasionally make adjustments to our tools, which can result in the temporary unavailability of certain features or reports. We understand the importance of reports that speak to Halo or Direct attribution sales to your business and apologize for any inconvenience caused by its absence in the initial launch of the redesigned advertising experience.

Please know that we are taking your feedback into account as we evaluate ways to potentially reintegrate new reporting into the new experience. While we can't provide a set schedule for updates at this time, we are committed to continuous improvement and will keep our community informed about any developments and provide support throughout the process.

We deeply value your contributions to the eBay community and appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to create a better experience for all our users. Should you have any further questions or wish to provide additional feedback, please feel free to reach out or use the "Give us feedback" link on our advertising pages.

The reports in the new ad dashboard appear to have limited data visibility to a shorter timeframe than before.

Previously, you could see daily stats for any timeframe selected.

Now, you can only see daily stats if you have it set to a 7 or 14 day timeframe.

ebaynewad-4 (1).jpg

ebaynewad-5 (1).jpg

If you set it to 31 days, the data is consolidated to every other day and 90 days condenses it to a weekly stat.

ebaynewad-6 (1).jpg

ebaynewad-7 (1).jpg

This reduces the visibility and granularity that sellers used to have and may cause confusion if sellers can't figure out why the numbers did not match up to their actual sales for those days.

For example, this report shows $257.93 in sales on June 14th with the next point being June 16th, skipping completely over the 15th.

ebaynewadsorders2 (1).jpg

That account had only 1 sale for a total of $53.70 on June 14th and to get the $257.93, you'd have to count 3 orders from June 15th as well.

So this stat is actually for the 14th-15th combined but there is absolutely nothing on the page that would inform the seller of that fact, leaving them to do the math to try to match up the data in this report to other sources of information.

Rather than "empowering sellers with simplicity and effectiveness" this seems to be creating confusion with less transparency and granularity.

Why did eBay choose to limit daily visibility to 7 and 14 day timeframes and will there be additional reporting available in the future to add back this basic capability sellers had in the previous experience?

Hi @valueaddedresource!

eBay's decision to limit daily visibility to 7 and 14-day timeframes is part of a strategic approach to streamline the data presentation and make it more manageable for sellers to analyze trends and performance over consistent and meaningful periods. This approach can help in minimizing distractions and inconsistencies that may arise with shorter time frames, enabling a more transparent view of long-term trends and  more stable data insights.

It’s understandable that sellers appreciate having more granular control over the data and the flexibility to view it through various timeframes as per their unique business needs. eBay continuously evaluates the tools and features based on user feedback and the overall impact on user experience and business performance, so we recommend keeping an eye on eBay's announcements or updates related to seller tools and possibly participating in any feedback opportunities eBay offers. This way, you can express your need for more detailed reporting capabilities and potentially influence future updates.
