The Juvenile Courts are courts in Massachusetts that have jurisdiction over cases such as delinquency, adoption, and child protection services.

In September 2013, Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation into law which raised the age of juvenile court jurisdiction to 18. Formerly, under Massachusetts state law, once a juvenile turned 17, they were tried as an adult. However, the law does not change the way Massachusetts treats juveniles who are charged with murder or sexual assault. Juveniles accused of these crimes, who are age 14 or older, may still be subject to possible prosecution as an adult.[1]
