Lacey A. Collier is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. He joined the court in 1991 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush.
Early life and education
A native of Demopolis, Alabama, Collier earned bachelor's degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy Postgraduate School in 1970 and from the University of West Florida in 1975. Collier earned a master's degree from the University of West Florida in 1972. He graduated from Florida State University's College of Law with his J.D. in 1977.[1]

Collier served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1975.[1]

Collier was nominated by President George H.W. Bush on July 24, 1991, to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida created by 104 Stat. 5089. The American Bar Association rated Collier Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination. Hearings on Collier's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on November 5, 1991, and his nomination was reported by then-U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) on November 15, 1991. Collier was confirmed by the unanimous consent of the U.S. Senate on November 15, 1991, and he received his commission on November 18, 1991. He elected to take senior status beginning on November 20, 2003. He was succeeded in this position by Margaret Rodgers.[1][2][3]
