Henry Clay Caldwell
Henry Clay Caldwell (1832-1915) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and the United States Circuit Courts for the Eighth Circuit.
He was nominated to the United States Circuit Courts for the Eighth Circuit by President Benjamin Harrison on February 27, 1890. He was confirmed by the Senate on March 4, 1890, and received commission that same day. On June 16, 1891, he was reassigned to the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.[1]
Prior to his appointment to the Eighth Circuit, Caldwell was a judge for the Western and Eastern Districts of Arkansas.
He was nominated by President Abraham Lincoln on May 2, 1864. He was confirmed by the Senate on May 28, 1864, and received commission on June 20, 1864. He served on the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas until March 3, 1871, when he was assigned to another court. He served on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas until March 13, 1890.[1] Caldwell was succeeded in this position by John Williams.
Caldwell retired on June 4, 1903 and passed away on February 15, 1915.
